My wife is watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade on tv and I'm perusing The Fedora Lounge when I spied actor Mike Vogel (tv show "The Brave") in a cool G-1. Looks like a 100-mission from The Cockpit?
This is an old W&G catalog from 1999. They show both HH and goatskin A-2's available. I think the choice of leather varied from year to year and unfortunately they did not always keep up the high quality standards of older W&G clothing. I have a HH variant from W&G that is truly top notch, one...
Thanks @El Marro, I appreciate the kind comment! Being a bit obsessive at times about authenticity and accuracy in a repro, the BK cordovan/seal brown mountain goatskin really creates quite a dilemma for me. On one hand it’s a gorgeous color with lots of depth and variation in tone and grain...
Today I wore my BK-made M-422; a repro of the first model 422 by Willis & Geiger. The goatskin is what BK called "mountain goatskin". Jacket was made for me about 5 years ago so BK has probably switched to a different goatskin for their newer jackets. It's thick and heavy (feels like FQHH...
Rain and chilly 40-50 degree temps today so I dug out my old Navy-issue deck jacket. These are 1990's vintage jackets (almost the same as the ubiquitous green A-2 deck jackets used from the 1960's thru the 1980's). These are labeled "Deck jacket, cold weather, flame resistant, Class 1" and were...

Proud new owner of this H.& L. Block M-422A. Not sure what year the NXs-5134 contract is from, but this jacket has definitely seen some action. It's in very good shape and in a very large size plus it exhibits gorgeous patina!
Zero-dark-thirty this morning, ice cold NW winds (I suspect the same cold NY winds blowing thru your town @Worf ) and wind chills in the 20's.
My Excelled G-1 is a roomy size 48 and allows room for a sweater. I'm really loving the tough as nails dark seal brown steerhide (it's developing some...
Underneath all that gear is a Navy-issue Excelled G-1 (a newer year 2000 model made of steerhide). Can't wear the LW all the time; gotta show some love to the other G-1's in my collection:-)
Hi Bob,
Thank you for the heads up on the jackets for sale. I just purchased the m-422a and I'm very excited to receive it! Always wanted to add a WWII original to my collection and now I have.
Thanks again! :)
@Fanch that Navy T-28 looks like a blast to fly! A very handsome bird, for sure!
All I've managed was some stick time in a Cessena 172 (if you don't count riding around in the back of a SH-60 Seahawk during my Navy days).
Nice jacket! One thing to keep in mind: the sleeves taper from shoulder seam down to the wrist/cuff area. If you take 2.5" off at the bottom, the corresponding circumference at the wrist will be wider. It might make the wrist/cuff area too wide and throw off the look and feel of this A-2.
I'd...
Today it was breezy and mild so it was a perfect day for my Willis & Geiger horsehide A-2. I love the fit and the overall quality of this 1980's jacket. My friend's old Ford pick-up truck made a good backdrop for the photo:cool:
Cool jacket @tmitchell59
I love the Buzz William Gibson line of jackets (I have a William Gibson MA-1 in a rare size 46 Long).
If you read any of Mr. Gibson's books, I suggest "Pattern Recognition". In it, the heroine, Cayce Pollard, goes into a Fedora Lounge-worthy obsession about her Buzz...
Cool jacket and I'm glad the resurrection of this G-1 was a success @Atticus Finch !
My guess is that's she's a 1973-1975 Star Sportswear G-1; that peculiar elongated rectangular zipper is the same style zip as on my '73 Star G-1 (as well as afew other Star G-1 examples I've seen on the...
@jonesy86 I am usually looking for long/tall jackets on eBay but I always go by the posted measurements; this "regular" length W&G jacket has 28" sleeves and a 27" back length and wide 21.5" shoulders, my ideal measurements in an A-2 so I hit the jackpot with this particular A-2. Maybe it's a...
