Hi Bunyip,
I have a LW Buco J 23 in brown color, size 48 in very good shape.
I do not consider selling it but only as trade with something Lost Worlds, Aero,Eastman or vintage.
Much of it has already been pointed out by you. Very interesting opinions.
Speaking strictly about leather jackets, from what I had the best quality for $$ spent with the X-Element jackets. These were my first non-mall leather jackets. Heavy leather, good construction, stitching, YKK heavy duty...
I'd better pay 1000 for one in better condition than 450 for a trashed one like this. And who knows what was the maximum amount of the winner. I reached a saturation level (in terms of storage, time to wear them). If I buy I am prepared to pay smth more (though not obscene prices) but to get a...
Very informative posts, I really enjoyed reading these "behind the scenes" things.
Although I am on eBay since 2009, my experience is kind of limited, being related only to buying. I consider selling on eBay too much of a hassle. Also the Europe "used" market is not comparable to the US one)...
@Sloan1874 - congrats, very nice jacket. Quality jump from Alpha Vintage is obvious. It worth every penny.
I would get one however unfortunately I'd no longer prefer things sourced from there. I think they have top stuff, I actually bought lots of denim pants and also fabric in the past...
@Narodnik congratulations, awesome and rare coat.
Given the age of it I'd be a bit cautious about wearing it. I saw the rips on the sleeves, might not be in a very strong shape. Ok, there can be pieces of different origin but anyway would be a pity to see it further degraded.
Back with one addition regarding this N-2A: the trim around the hood is not made of natural fur. It is just the same synthetic stuff you find on newer N-2B jackets(from 70s on) having some synthetic black hair added on top. I guess this goes for most of the N-2A trims that bear this visual...
After all these happy experiences I'm going to share my less successful one.
I purchased a l-2b from eBay(http://www.ebay.com/itm/291155814072?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649). Being a bit dirty esp the inner orange lining ( 33% wool 67% rayon composition) I decided to launder...
Have you considered Noble House A-1? I tried it on http://www.noble-house.eu/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/29/products_id/98?osCsid=0m3ggcich0buh9qjdivr4euet2. It looked pretty good quality wise(knitts, leather, construction). I am not sure how close to the original specs the jacket is since I...
Nicely said! After all quality matters.
I'm starting to be more exigent, purchase less but higher quality.
I ended up with quite some vintage stuff, pretty much a bit of everything I am interested in: several G1-s, USN pea coats, USN overcoats, sheepskin pants (A1, B1, m446), ww2 sailor...
I got this N-2A(http://www.ebay.com/itm/141307364730), not a bargain but reasonable price giving it's good condition.
I think I like more the N-2B bc of the the sage green color, is a rather special color different than what you usually see on the street.
Nice jacket, congratulations!
I guess you noticed that it's completely superior in terms of materials quality compared to Alpha Vintage repros.
That fur looks like the real thing. I have one from the 60s in coyote fur that looks about the same.To be 100% sure you can burn one piece of hair or...
Congratulations, a very nice jacket!
Was it restored recently?
Aero did not even bother to answer me when I mailed them (twice) about cuffs, lining and collar replacements.
I just received an used Vintage B-15 jacket (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mens-Jacket-Vintage-Alpha-Industries-B15C-Flight-Jacket-X-Large-/271514651545). Tagged as B-15C, blue color. What seems strange to me is the size: I laid it flat and measured from side to side at the the arm pit seams level. It...
I don't get why Alpha names these jackets 'Replica' when they don't even have the same cut as orig MA-1. I was thinking of purchasing one of these modern "replicas" when I saw your comments about different fit. It is quite misleading.
Currently I do not own a MA-1, N-2B reproduction but only vintage military ones. Seeing few people wearing some commercial Alpha MA-1 repros, pictures with them (MA-1, N-2b) I have the impression that their cut differs from the vintage military ones. I think most notable difference is that the...
