    AN-J-3 liner options

This week, my order of French goatskin arrived for the AN-J-3 jackets that are patterned from the original Willis & Geiger n my collection. When I restored my original, The remnants of the liner were brown Bemberg rayon, same as the W&G M-422a's. I made the liner for the original & the first...

    Greatest Generation GRIZZY jacket.

Thanks for the kind words! Paul, you were a pleasure to deal with & hope to do more for you in the future! As to that hide, it is a 2-2.5oz steerhide. These were a couple hides my supplier sent me to try out as I requested a slightly smoother hide than i normally use. I'm very picky about...

    New jacket

Sadly, I think most of those days/times have gone... well, except for the talkin' funny! Every trip I take up thru that area, I see more mini malls, Walmarts & Dollar General stores eating up the history.

    New jacket

Don't even mention Wilson County. Been fighting with the DA & Sheriff's Dept for 2 yrs trying to get my Dad's death investigated. His wife did him in after she had all his money/assets moved over into her name, but grew up with the DA, so he's covering for her & blocking everything. A real mess...

I'm on the east side of Nashville. Where in E. TN did you live? My mother's side of the family came from there & still have alot of family stomping around those parts!

    New jacket

Yes, seems that most I run across are the slightly longer half belt versions. vs this style. Wouldn't be an issue to do an exact reproduction on that, in fact, the jacket at the beginning of the thread started out that way with the only planned modification being a mouton collar. Got a little...

    New jacket

WOW! Triplets!! That original Herc of mine is steer. The way the pattern is cut has always been a very comfortable fit for me & was my "go to" jacket most of the time. Only modification I did to that original was narrow the sleeves from elbow to cuff to take some of that "slack" out. Removed...

Laurent, That looks to be a good fit in the shoulders, so maybe a 42 thats about 1.5-2" shorter in length & maybe same in the sleeves? Sizing is such a subjective thing. It all depends on what you feel comfortable in.

    New jacket

Yes, those are the Navy version of the B-3. Kinda like what the M-422a is to the A-2. I always thought it was Neat that each branch had separate, distinctive gear until the "AN" changes took effect later in the war.

    New jacket

I started out working in a small limo factory back in the mid-late 80's installing vinyl tops. During any slow periods, the older guys in my section would put me on the sewing machine sewing pouches in the dividers. sSaid it was "good practice". Over the yrs, I started doing the interiors...

    "The Grizzly"

You aren't supposed to pull it off, you're supposed to put it on!! ;) I know what you mean, I've had jackets before that that I thought looked awesome until I put it on then realized I looked like a soup sandwich!

    New jacket

Usually 2-3 weeks on average. If I have all the supplies here & don't have to depend on suppliers, shorter. I try to keep everything pretty well in stock except for some of the hides, but do have a large supply of goatskin arriving tomorrow from France.

Thanks folks! I also do some restoration/repair work. I try to find "unloved" old jackets, fix them up & give them a new life with someone who will appreciate them.
