I feel bad for Aaron but unfontunately I knew it was coming . I had heard rumors from salesman last year that things werent good. I guess things never picked up after Christmas. It is very hard to have a decent business in hats todays without a good walk in trade. Relying on the internet today...
We are still very much in business. The phones were not working for two days (I hate Verizon). Everything is back to normal. I wish Aarons had a phone number to reach him .

The hat business is indeed a tough business to be in . Unless you specialize in a specific group of people such as western or the Orthodox jewish market , it will be tough. Most major cities such as Chicago, Detroit, St Louis have only one hat store and that is all that is needed. In New York ...
Bigalli hats are all produced in Eucador. The name of the company is Yanapi . They are known for making hats of wool , fur felt and straw. As for their value, the wools are nice, probably on par with Bollman -much better than the Chinese crap. I will give them credit for their interesting...
Dont forget to have the special hard box that went with the hat. i have seen a few of the boxes pop up on EBAY without the hat. I believe there were keys as well.

2" ribbon is pretty wide today. The highest ribbon that I've seen on modern production hats is 19line from Borsalino . That would be about 1 7/8 inches. Perhaps Offray hasa higher ribbon. You might want to check a fabric store that sells ribbon for other purposes.
2 1/2" ribbon would be much...
Unfortunately, it seems the store is closed now. I hope that Aaron reopens in the future .
There arent many of us left in the business!

The hat is probably from around 1950. Stetson was in Phili until 1970. All production moved to St Joseph and Garland after that.
the main point is that you did a great job of repairing the hat. I wish my Whippet looked that good!

Golden Gate hats are made by Bollman in the USA. Broners hats are now starting to be made in China. Bot are wool but different factories. Check the tags in the hats.

Analogist, you are up early today!
All Scala fur felts made today are from China. They are one step above a wool hat. Stay away from them .

I strongly suggest johnnys website. i spoke to him a few weeks ago. He has a great selection of vintage hats in small sizes. Most men today arent 6 5/8 and 6 3/4 but younger boys are. The prices will be good and they wont be wool garbage hats like those made today...
Our Chatham is custome made for us with a 2 3/4" brim. It is one of our best selling hats from Stetson due to the wider brim. The Whippet is a smaller brim at 2 3/8" (bound).

We are getting in a straw version of the Brewster . It will be online next week. This is a much nicer hat than the Whippet . The Brewster is made of genuine Panama straw and will have a 2 3/8" bound edge just like the felt version.

Vintage Boaters are fairly common compared to other vintage straw hats. Most will sell for between 15 and 100 depending on the size , name of the company and condition. Larger sizes will sell for more.
