The 45to 65 age group does order online but a large majority still prefer a printed catalog. This is a problem as soon as the catalog is preinted it becomes obsolete within a matter of weeks. We sell out of an item and it is still in the catalog for a long period of time. Slowly the masses are...
Hi Boushi,
Yes. We list the caps as S-XXL . its easier to sell. They are sized in actual hat sizes so you could order one in a 57 or 61 if you wanted to.

Keep the production in Estonia. leave "made in China" to the mass market makers for places like Walmart. Trust me . people do notice it!

The Wigens brand has revitalized the cap business for us by introducing a few new shapes that are now being copied by everyone else. The quality of the caps are great . The customers realy like them as they are sized by number instead of the traditional S to XL. The problem is that they are...
I was in JJ's today for a visit. They will clean other stores hats . I dont think they change bands though. We just hired a new person who will renovate hats for us. No one wants to do this type of work anymore.

I have spoken to a few hat manufacturers concerning straw prices for next year. Even the low end shantungs will be going up in price. I dont know what will happen in the market. I've been told that part of the reason is increased demand for Panama straw by suppliers who made hats for the World...
There is a big problem now with panama hats. There is a shortage in the market of better bodies. Wait till next year. You will all see price increases of at least 10%.

Where do you find all of these nice Habig hats. I am drooling looking at them. I have a lot of Habigs but mostly from the 70's and mid 1980's before the factory closed.

Unfortunately, finding Cervo hats in Italy is not that easy. Most of the stores there are Borsalino company stores. There are a few independent stores such as Melegari but they are in Milan. At one time Cervo (Barbisio) had their own stores all over Italy but they closed them down around 10...
Biltmore is still in business although they are having a tough time. A lot of vendors are not happy with the arrangements that Biltmore has right now and are starting to look at other sources. Most of the bodies must be bought in advance and then the hats must be trimmed. Other companies have...

The bottom line is John B wants his name out there. Hatco couldnt do it as well as Dorfman can .They have many more salesman and have their own resources in China and Sri Lanka. I only hope that they dont put the name on cheap junk but we will see what happens. The caps will be avaialable...
Dorfman Pacific will only have the license to distribute and manufacture Stetson cut and sewn items. This means caps and cloth hats. Nothing to do with felt at this time. What it will mean in the future is another thing. Right now the new owners of Hatco are happy with the situation in Garland...
I have always said that Huckel made the best velour finish in the world. No one came close. I dont know whether is is because they were allowed to use mercury in the finishing part of the bodies or the quality of the fur , but even today there is no equal. Every factory has tried from Borsalino...
Hi Blue,
I had a similar problem with a customer of mine. He is a 8 1/8 to a 8 1/4 long oval. He wants a hat with a 3 1/4" minumum. There is no production made hat in that size anywhere . I called Optimo in chicago. No problem for them to make the hat. The only problem was the price. they want...
Henry the Hatter is THE hat store of Detroit. They have been there for many years. Its the only place to go for a good selection of hats .
