In the mail today arrived a Mil-Tec brand M-65 in tan which I ordered from a UK seller. Details are amazing, basically a dead copy of the late-production military jackets, really a fine quality garment and underpriced to my mind. I haven't handled an Alpha but I doubt they're better, at least...
What are these things called? (see photo below) The name I happened across is "drawstring cord lock" although I have no idea. I need to order a few of them to manage a jacket's drawstrings. Thanks.
I agree that the earlier "stone" colour (as we would call in here in N America) looked better, but it probably ceased to be available at some point, I mean Alpha probably stopped making them. Looking over photos, it's clear Schimanski wore several different jackets over the television series.
Nick Kamen in 1990. It's a civilian jacket obviously; funny to see the cuff knits folded under, probably the photographer or stylist being too clever for their own good, haha
I just got a used Rothco M-65 in tan, like the photo below. It's a pretty decent garment for the price point and fits me quite well, so I think it will get quite a bit of use. It's obviously a repro which misses the ball on some authentic details, but I don't fuss about stuff like that anymore...
These numbering systems get weird esp in the US Army where different gear/clothing items had the same or similar numbers, like (I'm making this up) the D5 pants or D5 backpack, haha
Last night I watched "Passion" by Brian De Palma. By the end I was laughing, not because it was funny (it's not) or bad (it's well crafted), but rather because it is soooooooooooo Brian De Palma!! The first third was lame and bubble gum and I was asking myself why I was watching this, but then...
Here's a civilian shearling (B3 knockoff) being worn by Rihanna. It appears to be decent quality, which makes sense since she can afford any price point.
