Thank you very much. You've solved my problem. :)
Based on what you're telling me, particularly with regards to GW's turn-around, I will absolutely stick it through with Dave, haha.
Once I've hashed out the fit and gotten this one under my belt, I may look to John Chapman for a future order...
I should also mention, in case it wasn't glaringly obvious, that this would be my first "adult" leather jacket. I had a cheap thrifted Brando knockoff in corrected grain some decades back, in my less-discerning longhair teenage years.
I typically wear vintage Clicker style coats for casual wear...
I'm new to custom flight jackets, but a friend of mine who resides in Italy sent me a text several weeks ago with pictures of a motorcycle jacket that he had made by Diamond Dave and mentioned that he came recommended via this forum. I visited his website and decided on a combat finish horsehide...
Also, I remembered that I do have a charcoal 1960's era Stetson Royal De Luxe "Gun Club" that works well. Unfortunately it's the wrong color and I mostly save it for worsted or flannel suits. I'd love to have one in a cigar or whiskey color. If I can find the same in a modern hat, I'd be a happy...
I picked up this contempo Dobbs straw at Meyer the Hatter in New Orleans two months ago. I wrapped the paisley band over the original brown grosgrain ribbon...
I really like the shape; it's the closest I've found in modern headwear to the classic silhouettes of my mid-century...
Thanks Monte!
Unfortunately I'll only have a couple of days at most from receiving the hat to have it stretched so I think I'll bring it in to a professional shop to be done. There's supposedly a great place in San Francisco called Paul's Hat Works. Hopefully they can have it stretched enough...
FINALLY!!!!
I found exactly what I was looking for!!!!
This is the dreamm hat I was after:
My only question is: how difficult is it to stretch a size 7 to a size 7 1/8? Is that a realistic aim?
I'm so excited that I found this and it's really inexpensive too!!!!
Thanks, but that's too expensive for me... I really don't want to pay more than $60.
I'm looking for a lighter tan/cream colored hat (ideally even a bit lighter than the above, though it could work) so the Open Road couldn't have worked as it was a deep chocolate color.
This one's just okay... another '50s in the right color but not perfect imo. It's deadstock though...

Unfortunately, also 7 1/4 :(
I wonder if I should try to stretch one?
Not bad but crazy expensive (would never consider at that price) and the brim needs to be shaped I think...

I like this one even more, but it's 7 3/8:

I think you get the idea of what I'm looking for. Period authenticity is really important...
What do you guys think of this hat?

I hate the shape of the crown but the color is perfect and it looks pretty authentic. The only thing is...
The shape of the brim and short crown looks very 1960s to me. I don't think it's a newer hat as it would be a lot more expensive. It's a heritage label and apparently new hats go for hundreds (some models even thousands) so I don't doubt that it's as advertised. Unfortunately, it doesn't look...
Thanks everyone, I really do appreciate the offers!
Monte, it's the specific style and contour that I'm particular about. There are many hats in my size online but I'm looking for something very specific, I suppose.
Here's a photo of the hat that the eBay seller promised me. It's a 1960s...
Thank you so much, I really appreciate the offer but it's not exactly what I'm looking for. I would really like to find a very 1950's tv-matinee western looking hat with a shorter crown and these just don't have the right profile.
The good news is that I seem to have found a perfect hat on...
This is not necessarily the style of hat that I'm looking for (although the size of the crown is ideal) but I'm just curious if anyone can tell me whether Craig Steven's hate might possibly be the Gun Club western model by Stetson?
I appeciate your help very much as mentioned above, but I posted an example of the type of hat I was looking for and specified that it should have a short crown, like something Glenn Ford or Audie Murphy would have worn. If I could find precisely what I'm looking for, then it would not be...
In addition, they are not my size either. As I posted above, I'm a size 7 and 1/8.
They are not the style that I'm looking for. Please see my initial post at the top of this thread.
