It was Seb.
On top of that, the leather felt stiff and lifeless afterwards.
It was an Aero goat, so I know it wasn't cheap stuff. Even though it was washed on a cold cycle for delicates, it's as if the waxes were taken straight out of the hide. It was softish and supple before and stiff...
There are quite varying opinions on that one.
I threw a goatskin jacket into the washing machine once & it lost a lot of the colour & had accelerated wear on the high points.
I wouldn't ever do it again.
Thanks PN, I agree it's a brilliant jacket & I think I'm liking it more & more.
I'll hang on to it for now, although tbh, it's not likely to see any wear until it cools down again, say next April :(
I have an FQHH Sheene in brown. I opted for an inner pocket, on the opposite side to the external chest pocket.
The pocket surround is very thick when you have multiple layers of leather & it IS visible from the outside.
Now, this is a close fitting pattern & this may not help.
If I were to...
I have had an old jacket dry cleaned, with fantastic results.
I first approached them & asked them about what was involved & the process that they undertook. They were very proud of their work and actually walked me through their shop, showed me their machine & described the full process...
Thanks guys, it's an awesome jacket that's for sure.
Edward, I may not have been into the jacket scene as long as you have, but likewise - I've never seen another one of this type.
Makes me think I should hang on to it!
I've just acquired this beauty & thought some around here might be interested in having a look.
This is a limited edition jacket made by Aero for Ace Cafe London. Most of my info has been scratched together through Google searches, so if anyone knows better than me, by all means, please do...
Not too sure which 'which is tougher, nicer or ages better', but I do have both options & love them equally. The steerhide isn't loved around here, generally, as much as the FQHH. I'm really not sure why to be honest. I love my 2 steerhide jackets as much as my 2 FQHH AERO's. I'd say change it...
Here's mine, although do keep in mind its approximately 25 years old or so.
I am happy to be corrected by people who know much better than I, but I think the older jackets had a different sizing to the current ones. For instance, mine is tagged as a 42, but I have tried on a current size 40...
Well, I only found this site around 2 years ago & owned 1 jacket at that time.
Since then, 8 have arrived & 3 have departed.
Not really sure why I'd ever need 5 heavy leather jackets in Sydney, but hey, what's a guy to do?
Current stock;
Aero Early '90s Highwayman in Black Connolly Steerhide...
It 'should' be possible to exchange the side panels to allow for a little more room. Although this approach does have its limitations, obviously. Probably no more than +1" on either side.
Aero (or Carrie) are the ones to advise on your specific jacket though.
Wow, wow, wow!
Just really loving that D-pocket!
You've done really well & it's been well worth the effort & wait.
After all, isn't that one of the most enjoyable parts of the journey of owning one of these?
