65th Anniversary of Jimmy Doolittle's raid on Tokyo

The Doolittle Raiders trained at Pensacola NAS just across the bay from me. AMAZING men. They don't make 'em like that any more.

    Today's Classic Films

Jurassic Park comes to mind first, as does the Lord of the Rings trilogy. I'm sure science fiction fans will want to include the Matrix films, although IMHO the first one was the only good one. Some loonie would probably want to include the new Star Wars films on the list too.

    Movies That Make You Smile

The Mark of Zorro (1940). The whole movie is one big smile for me.

    Panama and a suit?

Watch Inherit the Wind (1960), and take note that Gene Kelly and the rest of the principle male cast all wear vaudeville-esque straw hats with their three-piece suits, and still look good. Straw + Suit is an interesting combination, but it works.

As A Kid, What Were You Like?

When I was younger, (I'm still pretty young,) I was somewhat obnoxious; the fat little twerp who was always trying to make a joke and never succeeding. I woke up one morning and realized it was a waste, so now I'm an introspective silent type.

    Foreign Films

Ying Xiong (Hero in the US) is one of my favorites, and perhaps the best film to ever come out of Hong Kong cinema. The visuals are breathtaking.

    Folding Money

I carry about $25 with me on a normal day. When I know I'll need more, I just go to the bank and take it beforehand. To me, cash is the safest, and, (if I can say this without sounding a tad shady,) anonymous way to buy things. In this age of white collar crime, I doubt I will ever carry own...

Finding Neverland and Somewhere in Time

I loved the portrayal of a dedicated writer in Finding Neverland. The way it showed Barrie taking almost everything he saw and turning it into a masterpiece was amazing. One of my top five favorites.

    Your favourite dress-up photos??

This is a recent one of me, not dressed up so much as achieving a film noir attitude after a too-long night.

Your Favorite Years? What time period do you follow?

I love the mid-thirties through he early fifties; when dress became a little less flamboyant. Mid-width peaked lapels, double-breasted suits, Bogart, Lorre, they all hold a certain flavor of the era for me.

    Keith Richards, zombie

Keith Richards was low in my opinion before, now he's not worth having an opinion of at all.

Finally, a hat that suits my face correctly.

Thank you all for the compliments! I'm loving this hat more than ever now that I've had some third parties reinforce my opinion of it. :eusa_clap PADDY - That was probably the best compliment I received all day; thanks. You had me singing a Sinatra medley for the rest of the afternoon. ;)...

I guess there's some good in being 'eccentric'

People laugh because I'm different; I laugh because they're all the same.

Finally, a hat that suits my face correctly.

I recently purchased a vintage (50s) Mallory Chicago from Jimmy Pierce, and I've been wearing it fairly often, though at first I had certain reservations about the brim width. However, after seeing this photo from last weekend, I'm convinced that it's the most complimentary hat I own. I...
