I had put on quite a few pounds myself until I did the same thing, guided mostly by Mark Sisson's "Primal Blueprint" system, along with exercising first thing in the morning before showering and dressing for the day.
I thought I need to lose between 15-20 pounds, I ended up losing 50, along...
My taxi cap from Wilson's Leather Co. has become my go-to hat for everyday, casual about-and-aboutedness. My second hat in this style, I've lovingly named it "Charli II," and ol' Charlie is my stand-in whenever I'm traveling alone and can't take a self portrait.
Last year's trip to Italy (L...
Recently watched Powell and Pressburger's Black Narcissus.
I'm a huge fan of Powell and Pressburger, but this was the first time that I had seen this one. I loved it.
I'm a photographer and videographer by trade, I just posted a new slideshow to my web site home page:

I post more regular updates to my Wordpress and Tumblr pages as well. Tumblr especially.
This is a fairly recent, vintagesque shot that I like, taken of...
The weather has finally cooled off a bit and I'm wearing my Adventurebilt again. I used to avoid wearing it in certain places to avoid the "hey Indy!" comments, but I've made it an integral part of my personal style now, and people accept it as me. It works well with my leather vest, and I've...
I'm definitely going to take it by the shop first. The garments in question came from Men's Wearhouse originally, and they're supposed to offer complimentary alterations. I'm posting here in advance just to get a feeling for the response I might be in for when I go there tomorrow.
I'm in the...
Thanks on three counts. It used to sit higher in the front due to my stomach, never noticed it being this huge before.
The alignment of the pockets is something I hadn't even considered yet. The devil is in the details.
Given the funds, I would replace everything in my closet with new and...
I've returned to the Lounge after a long absence. Hope everyone is well.
Part of what I did during my time away was lose some weight. A lot of it, fifty pounds in fact. As it stands now, it's finally casual jacket weather in Florida, and I find myself in a predicament.
All of my suits...
IMO, that was both a strength and a weakness to the film. They physically showed Holmes exercising all of the skills of which the stories simply alluded to him as being capable. The bar boxing in particular was incredibly entertaining, but removed a lot of mystery about Holmes's boxing...
I would love to see all reality shows moved to a network of their own. But then I'm afraid that there would still be too many for even a 24-hour cable rotation to handle...
The Aviator was directed by a man who cared about telling a story about a man in a certain place and time. It wasn't directed in 3D by the man who gave us the cluster fornication that was Moulin Rouge.
I have a love/hate relationship with tattoos. Various experiences, from my martial arts background to a very impacting trip to India have periodically made me consider having an emblem put on my arm or chest, but something always holds me back.
On the other hand, as a photographer, tattoos...
I plan on seeing it, but only with the mindset of it being a Guy Ritchie film, not as a Sherlock Holmes film. With that in mind, I think it will be enjoyable in a rowdy, hot mess sort of way.
Real figures:
Orson Welles
- An uncompromising artist in radio, theatre, and film. He is an inspiration to me.
Bruce Lee
- I've yet to see his speed equaled by a present-day martial artists. He's another inspiration.
Theodore Roosevelt
- My favorite president, and a man's idea of a...
I'm a big fan of The Third Man as well. When I took Photo I in school, I based my final project on Robert Krasker's cinematography.
I get much the same feeling of "perfect film" when I watch Casablanca, Murder on the Orient Express, or The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp; they all had...
I agree with you there; although the blame also lies with sycophantic friends who say that everything is "freakin' awesome" when it's not.
I think that many photographers have gotten better through the digital medium, but just as many have gotten used to the AV/TV modes doing all the thinking...
That was my immediate reaction as well. I'm looking forward to it; it's unbelievable to me how perfectly McKay maintains the real Orson Welles's vocal inflections. His "I am Orson Welles!" outburst was spectacular.
Caught this one Sunday afternoon. Thoroughly enjoyed it. I thought that Matt Damon was fantastic as Whitacre; barely recognizable through the mustache and extra weight, and he handled the comedy extremely well. The soundtrack was awesome too.
Anyone else enjoy it? Anyone disagree and...
