1947 USAF - service cap info

I agree MacArthur's "Philippine Field Marshal" hat in khaki was his idea. U.S. Army General Officers did not wear any visor or braid ornamentation on the OD/brown or khaki uniform caps until the 1950s when the modern green uniform was adopted. However, they did have "scrambled eggs" and oak...

What Hat Are You Wearing Today 1?

Wearing my 1940s Stetson western (embroidered liner, bound edge, etc.) again, but decided to re-crease it over the weekend. I was never happy with the center dent (I think came to me that way?). The hat finally told me it wanted to be a cattleman. I do what I'm told. Old crease.

One of the best Open Roads to ever grace the screen - wish I could find pic that shows the crease.

    Taylor's Leatherwear police/motorcycle jacket 40 USA

My first leather police jacket was from Taylor's back in he early '80s and very similar to this one. They make great jackets and that's an excellent price. Someone should grab this up - good luck.

What Hat Are You Wearing Today 1?

Texas Hatters “misty grey” western – it started life in the 1960s as Stetson 10X Rancher and TH in Lockhart revived it for me last year (clean, reblock, new ribbon, sweat, liner, etc.).

    Cowboy Boots

Vintage Tony Lama boots. If I remember correctly, I think @Bamaboots helped me determine these are made of Caribou and are from the 1960s.

    Movie hats

The movie was released in theatres in August of 1976; JW died in June of 1979. Posted on imdb.com: "Contrary to popular belief, John Wayne did not have cancer when he made this film. His entire left lung and several ribs had been removed in surgery on September 17, 1964, and in 1969 he was...

    Real USN Pre-WW-II Flight Jacket?

Some other details from the movie (which is worth watching - if nothing else, to see Red Skelton in a somewhat dramatic role as a Navy pilot - shown at left in the first pic above): The jacket (with sewn on nametag) in the first photo is the one Robert Taylor's character wears when flying to...

    USN Flight Jacket

Cross-posting to see if anyone over here has ever seen a Navy flight jacket like this one? http://www.thefedoralounge.com/threads/real-usn-pre-ww-ii-flight-jacket.89570/

    Real USN Pre-WW-II Flight Jacket?

Watched the movie “Flight Command” (1940) over the weekend and expected to see lots of 37J1/A-1 jackets, but saw none. But the jacket the flyers wore was one I’d never seen before and wondered if it was an actual USN flight jacket or one created by costumers – it has a very wide knit waistband...
