Well, @DeaconKC has me outgunned in N-frames, but I love 'em! Top to bottom:
.44 H.E. 2d Model (ca. 1921 - barrel cut to 3.5" at some point long ago); .38/44 Heavy-Duty (1949-50); & a M-28-2 Highway Patrolman (1968).
It's hit or miss at our local gun shops & gun shows. I actually got this one online for a good price - even with shipping, FFL, etc. added on, I still came out ahead of prices I've seen locally.
Thanks - they are getting harder to find - especially in decent shape and without an outrageous price tag. I had an EG in .300 Sav. & wish I'd hung on to it.
When it rains, I grab a Campdraft first - rain only makes them better! Not on purpose, but I've been caught in downpours where rain was dripping thru my hat and no ill effects.
A "dress down" event at work lets me wear my late 60s Resistol western re-creased from its original RCA crown to a "Gus." Always looking for a excuse to wear this one.
Thank you - I'm glad it is finally getting some use (it appeared to be unworn). It never ceases to amaze me how small changes can transform hats. Here are some other pics, as requested - I wish I could find the "before" picture.
A long day making for a late entry - late 40s/early 50s ivory (not white) 3X Stetson that was a Shuddle Bros. western with a Ft. Worth cattleman bash when it came to me. Never looked good on me so decided to try a teardrop and new brim style. Getting a lot more wear now!
While I'd like to shoot one, probably not - for several reasons. Since ammo manufacturing of .41 RF stopped about 1962, they cost about $15-20+ a round to shoot (if you can find it AND if it still works). Plus original ammo is corrosive black powder. Apparently Navy Arms had some ammo...
Growing up watching westerns, I always wanted a Remington double-derringer but could never justify $500+ for a gun I can't shoot. A while back, I found a blued one with a broken latch, but in otherwise excellent condition for a reasonable price. Since it is a "wall-hanger" anyway, I jumped on...
Mine arrived from Shepler's (via ebay) yesterday and I am very happy with it. I was not expecting it to be as "soft" and pliable as it is (all my other straw ORs are pretty stiff). Reminds me of the handful of vintage straw ORs I have seen.
Not many jacket days left in Texas, today I am wearing my new-to-me, originally inexpensive, A-2 jacket. I picked up a broken-in Cooper A-2 jacket because it was dirt cheap. It is in decent shape and fits me like a glove, but . . . the knits were shot (no holes, but no elastic left). So, I...
