That Lewis jacket is fantastic. Love that style. This is an interesting topic of discussion. I'm into the jackets everyone loves on here for the same reasons I got into the male-dominated clothing realm of raw denim. I was frustrated with the durability and quality of "fashion" for women. I had...
Thanks. It did a little research and it looks like S. Slater and Son was the original founder of Golden Bear, though I'm quite sure the jacket I'm looking at isn't that vintage.
Is anyone familiar with Slater and Son (by Golden Bear Sportswear/Made in California)? I've heard of Golden Bear, but I'm not familiar with the Slater label or if it represents a vintage or newer jacket.
Yes on both. But minus the cafecto epaulets. But, ya know, that Cascade is just lovely! I really like that look a lot, though I'd probably go for less quilting and more of a streamlined appearance.
Does anyone have reference photos of a cross-zip with a mandarin collar? Kinda like a perfecto-cafe racer hybrid? I'm talking to Five Star about a possible custom and I'm looking for some inspiration images. Bonus for womens jackets, but I'll take anything you think looks cool.
Just wanted to pop in and say thank you for also dropping ladies' jackets into this thread! I'm not one for fringe, but I sure enjoy it when I click on a link for womens' gear. Much appreciated.
Well, Captain, I got the Lesco and immediately loved its look. Put it on and almost everything was fine, but tight in the armholes. Moved my arms around and immediately popped the outside threads around the front of one of the armholes! So where do damaged leather jackets go to die? Is it even...
Womens Vanson medium-weight cowhide leather. All zippers working fine, as close to new as possible. This is tagged with a women's size 14, but I don't think that's reflective of the actual size. I've got it up on Poshmark, but would sell here for $250 shipped in conus.
Chest (armpit to armpit...
Opinions? I've been keeping an eye out for an asymmetrical womens moto jacket with a mandarin collar. Would a custom Five Star be something I should be looking into for this? I really liked that buffalo hide I saw earlier in the thread. Five Star has some women's designs (like this one...
Thanks for the heads-up! I will be careful with it. I don't mind a lived-in look, so I'll try to keep it relatively untouched unless it's just hideously dirty. I like the idea of having a different color in the rotation, a change-up from the basic black.
I did see that Lesco made both mens and...
Rolling the dice again with another eBay find. This Lesco cafe racer in a lighter color. Has some "distressing" to the leather. Not sure if I'll try to clean it or embrace the patina. We'll see what it looks like in person when it arrives!
I appreciate the encouragement! If the fit was perfect, I would probably figure out a way to work with it and find a tailor to repair it, but it's not quite right. I've been eyeing some other Branded options in a similar price range and suspect I would do better with one that is fully intact...
Welp...jacket arrived with a couple undisclosed problems. Awesome leather, but there's pin hole in the collar (not so bad) and a massive, shredded rip in the lining inside one of the arms. Sigh. Just sent the seller a message. I'm not interested in trying to do a repair on this. The search...
First off, I'm fairly new here, so it's lovely to be able to nerd out on these sort of things. I rolled the dice on an ebay Branded Garments cross-zip. I've always wanted a good one and I'm hoping this will be it! Wish me luck, y'all. ;)
