Bought a nice pre-owned wool/leather coat, and I had the dry cleaners spruce it up, adding metal blazer buttons to the breast pockets/cuffs, just to liven things up ;)

Sure - it's a modern day "possibles bag." =) How one rocks (wears) it may be more important. A distressed leather or canvas bag might look more rugged. But, it's just one dude's opinion.

Yep, the belt in my pic was made by a UK maker on Etsy, using English Oak Bark bridle leather. The quality of a well made leather belt is so much better than the majority of the belts you find in stores. Plus, I fancy thick, rugged leather belts. Here's a pic of a brown one he made for me...
