    Denim Jackets with zips

Could well be. Although my understanding is that the zips were dropped in the early to mid 60's. The wider pocket stitching has certainly been dated as 61. Only the site you mentioned dates them that late. I got my first Wrangler in 66, but, obviously, we never got zipped versions. Matters not...

    Denim Jackets with zips

Just sorting through my denim, and I realised nearly all the jackets I've acquired over the last year have zips. And I've been lucky enough to find originals, so haven't had to shell out for repros. As far as I know, none of these jackets were ever sold new in the UK back in the day. My...

    The A-1 pockets

Major G W Howard, Chief of the Experimental Engineering Section of the Air Corp, wrote in 1929, when discussing the viability of ordering replacement knits for A1s, "As these jackets are of very poor material throughout, it is possible that when the cuffs and collars have worn to the extent of...

    The A-1 pockets

According to Gary Eastman's book, the capeskin was criticised at the time for not being durable enough for the job, and was therefore replaced by stronger hides on the A2. The capeskin used tended to graze easily, and even tear. I'm no expert, but perhaps modern capeskin is stronger?

This is the Type A-1 for which I've been waiting.

Ni they are not, my friend. What we are seeing are "developments". It's a big word, but hopefully we can manage the intellectual massiveness of that .....:D;)

This is the Type A-1 for which I've been waiting.

So do I, except for the pockets! OK, so someone else did it in the past. History ( as I am SURE you know, being a teacher, an' all.....) is full of folks who made mistakes. A number of other companies (GW, ELC, Aero et al) got the pockets in a sensible place. So Mr Falzon wants to pick...
