Doylum - Nice story, thanks for sharing - you’ll love the revisit when it’s all going on. It was back in 2014 when I last visited, a very long drive for me but well worth it - it’s very rare these days to be amongst true crafts people at work. Enjoy and please report back.
Very very sorry to hear this. 110 jackets sound way beyond opertunist tea leaves, but where are they going to off load them? They might shift a couple to mates or a few down the pub, but unless they have been stolen to order, they'll have to move them online - eyes peeled!
Very sorry, just can't do it - name one and you risk upsetting many others. I can think of many outstanding jackets posted on his forum over the years - the ones that stand out for me are the jackets that just really suit the wearer.
That's a beauty, first time I've seen this hide, rich colour and a nice change from the usual seal brown. Would love to see how medium steerhide breaks in, could be very special.
Very nice halfbelt, length looks right for 30's pattern and I particularly like the look of the back. I'd probably need a tad more length in the sleeves, but that's just a personal thing. As to making the body slimmer, if it was a lighter weight hide it might work but reducing the Premier...
I had a new Aero mid weight russet jerky half belt but I let it go. The hide was nice enough but the finish had a almost painted look about it and even after much wetting I could never get the collar to hold a shape.
I'd say it looks perfectly normal. To get a really unrestricted easy arm reach forward you would have to have a lot more hide in in back panel which would billow out when the arms were at rest. Just enjoy, the reach will ease a bit with wear.
