Kahuna - Many thanks for the kind words. Unfortunately, with the influx of cheap Chinese guitars I don’t think people prepared to pay for a hand built instruments these days.
For sheer wearability and comfort, Aero’s Kudu hide took some beating. Quite hefty but soft & pliable with stunning purple hues in certain light. Sadly no longer available.
^ Thank you Edward, I can hardly wait to string it up and hear it sing, but it’s always an anxious moment. My all time favourite tonewood for an acoustic back and sides was Brazilian Rosewood, the colours and grain patterns were simply stunning, sadly no longer available and I could never afford...
^ There are many luthiers suppliers out there selling tone woods and they earn a good living from it. Spruce isn’t an issue but sourcing rosewood is now getting very difficult, due to the import and export restrictions. All luthiers are having to consider native species for their future...
Thank you Mr Jack, most kind. It was a big decision stopping work, as I was self employed, but at 63 I decided I’d done enough. Don’t know how many guitars left in me but I’m just going to enjoy the ride
Having recently retired, I’ve decided to refit my old workshop and get back into acoustic guitar building - a man can’t have too many hobbies
It’s been over 17 years since my last guitar build and I’m having to relearn all the processes involved. Latest project just underway: Martin 000...
Fit overall ok but the short sleeves are throwing the whole look off. Why not measure you’re favourite jacket sleeve length and ask for that. For me, the first knuckle of the thumb is my preference but you might like a bit shorter or longer.
Have to say, the fit does look way off. If it helps any, here is my size 40” premier halfbelt for comparison.
Fresh out the box.
With a bit of wear on it.
Very nice jacket, a pattern rarely seen on here anymore since a member going by the name Windward stopped posting. As regards the fit, I would need another 1” added to the sleeve length, but that is just a personal preference. Enjoy the break in.
Being a huge fan of all half-belts and having owned a GW Ventura for some time and tried on an ELMC Cali, my vote has to the GW Ventura. For me, the high pockets on the ELMC are a deal breaker. Sorry ELMC fans, it’s only a personal opinion.
