...of course, Dinerman... didn't pay enough attention to the lacking of those little holes in the crown; otherwise, well, it could have been: rather low crown, just like the campaign hat I have which, also, is the same color. Thanks and greetings,
Paul
Just one little comment, my "Stetson 100" (obviously sherished), was originally 6-7/8 and I had it stretched to 7-1/8 (yes, new sweat and ribbons) and, in order to keep it's size, I store it on one of those a wooden in-hat stretchers, just to prevent it shrinking back down.
I also own a...
Dinerman, that hat off eBay, would that be a "campaign hat" (park ranger's hat, ...whatever you wish to call it)? I like that hatband. I'm into looking at ways to make -better said, to "assemble" hatbands (for western style hats).
Stan, that's my way of viewing movies, documentaries, or any other film footage: always looking at the background. Trying to find out where it is, when, etcetera. Any details...it's so important to properly "dress" video. And of course those Dallas policemen...1963...yes. LBJ. THE hat.
Hi board, many thanks for your responses and suggestions. Smokey Bear 't is then! I'll sleep over what to do with my campaign hat...probably pointless to get rid of the stiffener, I guess.
Of course not! NO OPEN FLAME EVER AROUND NAPHTA, ALCOHOL... I hope that's clear to all...please!
...I recall, as a kid, playing with gasoline...
...I recall filling the car with gas, cigarette in hand...
I'm a darn LUCKY FOOL to remember, in one piece, these (and other...) things...much :o
Memory does strange things; like ...disappear!
I won a "park ranger" Nutria Quality hat on eBay, and it's like new. In fact, it stinks of what I believe to be tobacco and the sweatband practically desintegrated upon touching it, it's already been thrown away with one single rip... But...
Do it! Do it! Go! Go!
(Here I am shouting offa the toppa my lungs carrying waves of sound accross the Atlantic Ocean, accross the eastern seaboard, accross the Mississippi river valley, the great plains, Rocky Mountains, potato fields of Idaho, swooping down into ...The City...).
How about...
The hat must thank you for the compliments (the rest would be vanity, and I'm not good at camouflage).
Zemke Fan, the jacket is ..ahem.. used to be my wife's, luckily the buttons are "male" oriented (I said...vanity), the jacket must date from the late 1970's or maybe early 'eighties. The...
Ah, the Bay! I've read this thread with considerable interest, because -and let me explain- eBay is my prime source for hats.
I've read, with a tinge of envy, those who state having "won" marvellous hats for a mere $25 or so. I've paid more, yet I'm very happy with most of the hats I...
There certainly are more than just a few great hatters in the US, there is no doubt about that. I've always thought it strange that in a matter of such a "artisan" industry as (custom) hatmaking, the USA would -today- lead the world...but...they do! One isn't surprised at America spearheading...
Hi Portolan, so you back too, from here to there...sorry to learn that the interim time has cost you the mishap of a flattened toquilla but, it would seem, the situation is not altogether hopeless, and the nimble Ecuadorians always there to weave another one...
Greetings,
Paul
Mr. Paladin, I'm in tune with you wearin' your cattleman bash hat.
Today, I wore one to work, apparently just like it (a Stetson Sovereign "Twenty", originally sold in Wichita Falls). No finer hat, no finer shape.
Paul
This sunday morning, sun was shining through a weather window and, after breakfast, we went to walk ourselves and Zappa the dog in the fields behind our house, me wearing what is my favorite hat (1940's John B. Stetson "Real Nutria Quality"). Pixels to show:
