Thanks for the link to the advert - it’s one of two I came across when searching the net. The other was a 3 pocket front which to me looked like a fantasy. What do you think?

A friend asked me if Kerouac wore a sealskin jacket in ‘On The Road’. I told him I hadn’t read the book but the seal probably referred to the colour of his ‘bomber jacket’ rather than the source of the leather. I speculated that as there was plenty of military surplus about it might have been an...
I think I read on TFL that these jackets were sub contracted to an Indian manufacturer by Aero Leather Scotland in a bid to produce a range of ‘entry level’ jackets at a lower price.
The first batch of a fixed number of A2’s were fine (this is probably an example), but there were issues with...
Just had this Aero Leather C3 delivered - greedbay £130 offer accepted. I was a bit worried about the 21.5” pit to pit given my 43” chest but it’s actually just over 22” and the fit is perfect. I’ll be able to wear my A2 and A1 in the colder weather now with this underneath.
I’m ok with the wear...
@Monitor Fwiw and with regard to zipper tape stitched into the seams/panels rather than finished with stops, I’ve removed pullers from nylon zipper tapes by using a box knife/Stanley knife to carefully cut a short slice between the teeth at the very top of the female side of the tape then used...
The zip pull - but it might have been a replacement? I’ve still got an Aero Highway Patrol jacket of the same vintage with its original Aillee (Ailée?) zipper. I think they used a variety of zippers in the early days.
I searched for Strauss leather jacket and came up with a couple a new one for over a thousand dollars and an eBay one for 450 dollars. The latter was advertised as ‘made in Italy but differed from yours by having a two piece back.
Fit is a personal issue. If you think it’s too tight then it is. Don’t make my mistake and be so desperate to own a jacket you’re never really happy with and end up giving it away or selling it at a big loss.
But maybe do a mock up in a lighter fabric first and if it proves too difficult then a duffel or Mail bag (messenger style vintage US Mail type) would be easier.
