Are you sure? This, I didn't know, I always thought, the Fed IV were as high as every other Indy Hat. You know adVintage from germany?

I have got one of these. As I wrote, it's really high, I can't shape it...
Yes, I know these hats, but I really like the christy's if i bash it with a teardrop- crease. It's the perfect high for me then. Alle Akubra Feds or advintage, all these "Indy hats" are a little bit too tall for me.
I am just wondering if i will get the original high back, when i reblock the...
One of my big problems is, when i sew in the Sweatband and the ribbon, i destroy the shape of the corwn a bit, as i destroy the brimshape.
So, creasinf wouldn't make much sense, as long there is noch sweatband and ribbon on the hat.
Ok, what i did now, was to make the felt totaly wet, and not using steam. Here is the result. Now, it touches the Bottom, but maybe its a little bit from the brim, now used as crown.... I am not sure.
What should i do next? Let the felt dry and then? Does it look ok so far?
Btw, thank all of...
These are the results.... i made a hat, but not a fedora...
the corown is much much too low. All the other stuff worked so far, the brim needs to be finished. But i dont get it, why the crown is so low. I can't even crease it right.
Well, at least i can say "I tried".
I recieved my hatshaper today.
First I cut out the sweatband and cut off the ribbon. Now, it was the pure felt. I made it wet and steam it, until it was hot, then pulled it over the hatshaper.
It couldn't reach the bottom of the hatshaper, the felt...
I recieved a written letter today. From hatshapers. Was sent 3 weeks ago. They said, that they have got all my mails, but couldn't write me back. This is nice! I will order the hatblock now!
I just noticed that i sent my mails to sales@hatshapers.com instead of Sales@hatshapers.com. Does it make a difference? Should i send them a fifth mail?! Oh dear....
Hat Strechers - How much are they needed?
Hi,
many of you guys have a lot of hats and it starts to become spring. Thats why i ask: you have a strecher for each of your hats, if you don't wear them in the hot season?
Or are you taking hatstrechers not this serious at all?
Greets,
Arne
Yes, everything is ok! I've been really unsure, since its my first block. But now I am looking forward to the 23'' and post pictures here when I blocked my head. Let's hope they'll write back soon....
Thanks for the tip! I've got some fur felt from an older hat, i will try that!
On the sizes: I've got a Hat in 7 3/8 inch. In german (my normal idea of size) size 59 cm. That means the sweatband is 7 3/8 inch. Shouldn't it fit on a 23 inch crownblock?!
Excuse me, if I am very carefully, but...
Hey, for them, who placed an order at hatshapers.com: the only way to place an order is to write an email to them, right? I wrote two mails already and get no answer. The first mail is two weeks ago. Is that normal?
Yes i know. I have got hats from one of these hatters. But blocking it by them is expensive, so, first i searched for a guy around here to block my hat more cheap. Now i decided to buy a hatblock and block it by myself. The title of the thread is now incorrect, but i didn't know where it would...
Ok, hats in germany ar creased by machine. To get a hat here, which is open crowned or creased by hand is difficult. Or do i misunderstand you again? Then i don't get your point. :)
Dear jbucklin, thank you for your post. It helps much, i think this block is the right one for my hats. I'm trying to order one at the moment (Contact via mail seems to be slow.).
It seems to be very oval, or is it just the picture- perspectives? And what are these waves between the crown and...
