For me, that's the point . The open crowned Fedoras look "worn" and unique just by bashing them. All the little kinks in the felt by bashing it from hand and not by mashine, the asymmetrical lines.... That's "doing the own thing" - style.
I insist, you try it! Bashing is not a big deal in the end. I never "misbashed" one hat, it has always worked. Watch the video.
I never bashed in an highly accurate style. I never said: "this is the perfect crease, I have to reach for it." I simply bash, and be happy with my unique formed...
It is the tawny fawn. On akubra, I only owned the heritage quality so far. This is my first imperial quality hat from them. Way much stiffer. I personally don't like this fact so much, but it's a great outdoor hat tough.

OH, tweed, I can imagine that.
I came straight out of the fur felt world, wool was new to me, especially as open crowned. But it worked well at least.
The hat is a sunny - Sunday hat. Nothing for rain etc.
Thank you! It is my first wool open crowned. I presented it in this thread:

There you can see more pictures of it.
Sorry, never heard of Butler. Erehwon is just "nowhere" backwards.
Fast answers. Thank you. I found another thread here on the same topic. My fault.
I'll place it here:

I will do as you said. Wearing it. Seems to be the less dangerous method.

Hey Folks,
I have a got an Akubra FederationIV standard fur felt. On the heritage quality, Akubra hat size 60cm fit me, but this one is a little too big. Maybe because it is way more stiff. I already but some stripes in it.
Is there a way to shrink the size a bit, but controlled? I don't...
