Checked with Carrie, she explained that leather is of normal aero thickness & weight. She says FQHH CXL jackets usually vary in weight between 4-5 Lbs. I really never noticed the apparent weight difference till I got a weigh scale and was able to measure
In any case, here is a fit picture of the...
Even my Aero CR and Schott P663, both in CXL Steerhide weigh in at around 5.5 lbs. Isn't Aero supposed to specify if the jacket is made of lighter CXL in case the weight is varying to the tune of 35% lighter than usual?
@Guppy, was able to measure the jacket’s weight today, comes at around 4.1lbs. A bit lightweight considering the other two Sheenes of mine in CXL FQHH are exactly 5.3 lbs
This jacket was bought from @Stitched in March 2020. I am on the North side of the border hence got it shipped to my brother's place in Seattle, to avoid the notorious custom fees and delays at Canada Customs. Before I could make it, borders were closed due to Covid -19, & thats how it has been...
Thanks @sweetfights, wish it was one size smaller. I have come to realize that my Aero CR size is 40 for a comfortable and 38 for a snug fit, and this one is way too big. Hope it finds a permanent home soon
Thanks @John D Maccarter & @Psant25. I have only had CRs and CR based patterns till this one came along. Loved the somewhat different styling, and especially the shade of brown, which in my opinion is the best CXL brown variation, Aero's is more on the side of chocolaty brown in my experience...
Thanks @zebedee . I do indend to wear the hell out of the jacket, natural CXL looks better as it patinas, changes color and all, and I really look forward to getting that on my jacket
@torfjord wow man your jacket looks awesome, I hope my jacket gets this darker shade of brown sooner than later...
Thanks @zebedee. I do have the option of return through TB since the jacket is brand new, but I quite like it. Also, have been waiting to get a Sheene in Natural CXL since ages, and with Aero closed, cannot fathom waiting for a few months at the least
@Guppy I believe a correction is in order. I really like this jacket. The loose grain pictures I posted earlier were of another CXL natural jacket, not this one.
I understand this jacket has a bit more graining on the sleeves out of the box, and I am perfectly fine with it, it was eventually...
Thanks @marker2037 .I do have a couple of goodyear welted boots, again in natural CXL, but don't see any loose grain around(the leftmost belong to my better half)
Regarding the jacket, yes this one doesn't have any loose graining, just some extra creasing on the arms which was anyways bound to...
Thanks @ton312, @navetsea & @John D Maccarter. Personally I am not a fan of loose grain, I think it has no place on a $1,000 jacket. It’s not like the jacket is made from a single hide, It uses several hides, various panels stitched together. Makers like Aero, Himel, RMC pride themselves in...
@Monitor i think that would depend on the colour and type of the leather. On your black jacket, they sure look good, and make the jacket unique. I am not sure how they would look on Natural CXL or Vicenza
@Guppy don’t have a scale, will try to weigh and update later. It is substantial but not...
Thanks @sweetfights @Monitor & @Psant25 . What do you think about below pics ? Is this classified as loose graining? That is another jacket in natural CXL Steerhide(not aero). I am just trying to err on the side of caution with this one :)
