I know what you mean about the weight, but Julie Leitch so perfectly nailed the fit that I can wear it with a t-shirt and it looks like a fitted jacket, and I can also wear it with a Shetland sweater and still have complete freedom of movement. I just got back from a trip to the N.J shore where...
Tommer, I believe it was you who had a brown LHB years ago. Your pics were the ones that made me go ahead and order. I still have it and it's still my favorite jacket. Eight years ago?!! Nice to hear from you again.
I couldn't agree more. I'm a 7 7/8 Brainiac myself and, although I like skimpies, I look terrible in them. Not only your size, but the kind of face you have matters too. Guys with thinner faces look fine in shorter brims, and those with wider faces with wider ones. Of course, there's no...
Those are fantastic jackets, very popular in the late '50's and early 60's. I found one recently on Etsy from J.C. Penney's and really like it. I'd say keep it.
It was kind of a silly question, I know. Let me think about your kind offer for a day or so: I'm just wondering if I'd wear them much, as the tropical sun requires as much brim as possible. Thanks.
Hi, DH. I'm a 7 7/8 (63 cm.). Do you think the hat could be (gently) stretched up a mite? I really like the looks of this one. Also, how wide is the brim?
That's right. I was born in 1951 and don't remember ever seeing an adult wearing jeans, except in photos of farmers. The one exception was my Aunt Gretchen, who was an artist in Greenwich Village.
It's a semi-public space: you get what you get. I'm still (of course) thinking about the hat. The only thing holding me back is the 2.5" brim, which is skimpy for me. All the best.
Not a bad idea. Once I've shaped a hat I seldom change it anyway. What always surprises me is when I see a $200+ straw with a cloth band. How much more could it cost for a strip of lamb? The Sunbody band I find less irritating than some of the others, but leather would be better. I wonder if...
Not yet, but it's a strong contender. I always start thinking about the Sunbodys at this time of year, just before the summer Monsoons. I too would love to see some pics of these in the wild.
I don't know if it's true, but I remember reading that, prior to WWII, many of the hats that seemed to be black were actually dark navy blue, particularly in evening-wear hats. Anyone know if this is true? Anyway, there's nothing that looks as good with a black leather jacket (non-biker) as a...
