Terrific job by Johnson leather and questionable hide from LW

Incredibly cool-looking jacket. Three cheers for having the guts to try something a bit different.

New Aero Original Hercules review, with fit pics

I've had a brown LHB, a similar jacket (and a 38 as well), since 2011, and it remains my favorite one. Rereading this thread, it reaffirms that these styles really make for a perfect "all-purpose" jacket for someone looking for such a thing. Great jacket for travel.

    Good Wear Hercules

I was exactly the same, except in my case it was Artaud. Then Joyce. It's a good thing to go through when you're young, as you learn so much through all of the research you do.

    Goodwear Jackets why the attraction

Because they're beautiful. I'm not particularly attracted to A-2's, but when I saw Sloane's photos on the arrival of his GW I wanted one badly. The question is: do I have the time, the money, and the patience?

    Good Wear Hercules

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned the "Commodity Fetishism" chapter of Karl Marx's Das Kapital: he's actually "right on the money" about it (forgive me). He says that there's a point in the development of capitalism (a term invented by him, btw) at which things become far more important than...

    Vintage cossack jacket?

I first read about this indicator many years ago ( I think it was in Alison Lurie's The Language of Clothes) and I was a bit skeptical at first, but I've since seen it borne out over and over again. Really fascinating.

    20’s kind of a hat.

I love all these hats. Funny, because I've been reading a lot of 1920's novels lately: Fitzgerald, Evelyn Waugh, Anthony Powell. What a time.

    Good Wear Hercules

It's amazing that this whole discussion got started because a guy got a beautiful, nicely-fitting jacket. For free.

(Help) Looking for Entry Level A-2

I just got a Cockpit Short Leather Peacoat from another FL member and absolutely love it. I haven't handled any of their other models, but this one, because of the style, is very slim and form-fitting. Very well made and comfortable.

    I need some HAT help!!!!

Have you looked into Sunbody Hats? There are a couple of threads here about them, and I highly recommend them for a good, well made straw that will take a certain amount of punishment. They're also very accommodating as far as customizing your order. Prices are usually at much less than $100.00.

    I need some HAT help!!!!

I just realized that I was addressing BryanB's postings in some of my above comments. My apologies for any confusion.

    I need some HAT help!!!!

I too am a size 63, but I've found that this has been a blessing in a way as it's kept me from ordering online a lot of inferior hats, being that the larger manufacturers tend to shy away from anything larger than a 7 5/8. Stetson only makes size 63 hats in a very few models, and from what I've...

USN Deck Jackets period / repop

I realize this is an old posting, but I was just watching "Mister Roberts" the other night (probably my favorite movie) and was wondering if you had any thoughts on it, or if you had any Hoot Gibson movies you wanted to trade?

What Jacket Are You Wearing Today?

Stellar outfit. I wonder if Matt ever thought of the possibilities inherent in flip-flops.
