I'll be honest, I don't even like the back! Haha. Plus that buckle is in a stupid place- whenever did you want something like that pressed into your spine every time you sit on a car seat?
I would like a video of someone contorting themselves in an effort to wiggle into this!
By the way, I do...
Putting the thing on and taking it off were the main reasons for making me think it is a very bad idea... I can only imagine it would be phenomenally difficult!!
Either it's a very short jacket or a very wide one. A strange shape to my eye. I don't like the look of it, but maybe it looks better worn? A leather pullover seems a bad idea.
There's photos of him still looking ok in the mid 1980's, and looking his worst around about the turn of the millennium. You're right about fluctuating, I think, but I can't find any photos of him looking morbidly obese until he was an old man.
Here's an amusing article about his horrendous...
Over delivering is a good thing, but dodging a $10k bill for a photo shoot at the expense of sales/perceived value/reputation is a weird decision, in my mind.
Vanson have been in desperate need of a upgrade to their website for ages. They could also do with hiring some models and conducting a professional photoshoot... It seems peculiar to me how the majority of companies we talk about here haven't made the effort to produce some kick ass photography...
The first time I really noticed it was one particular jacket, from a maker that shall remain nameless, where the underarm sleeve panel on the left side was a MUCH lighter shade than the rest of the jacket. It was an eBay bargain and I knew what I was getting, but how it passed QC I have no idea...
His published biography states he was 5'8 3/4, and 144lbs, as a young man. He became dangerously fat later in life, but he looked to still be under 200lbs in Godfather, certainly not 332lbs...
Cuban heels don't seem very common in London, and when I have spotted them they've been on shorter guys. I love boots, and have various types of soles and heels, but the ones I wear more often are the ones which are more flexible and less rigid underfoot.
I think the bonus third panel under the armpit is to allow for crafting a larger/lower armhole. Supposedly, with thick/stiff material you are better off with three vertical panels, as mentioned above, to provide better contouring and freer movement.
Is your Aero Cafe Racer comfortable to do up, Ton? The front of the collar looks like it is above chin height. Aero's board and cafe racers seem to have rather unique mandarin collars in a couple of ways, judging by a few recent posts.
A very cool jacket, Carrie! Which leather is that made from, please? Judging by the photos it looks like Dark Seal or Blackened Brown Vicenza. Near black, but you can see the brown where the sun hits.
Thanks. That is pretty snug. With leather, for a jacket in that size, I believe you'd usually want 18 or 18 1/4" there. I know Cafe Racers/Board Racers are intentionally snug, but still. That's the equivalent of a 15" collar on a dress shirt.
