    Maxwell v Teamster

Go with cordovan. It really changes shades of purple, brown, and black depending on the light. Oh - and you'll have a great excuse to buy some Color 8 boots. I prefer the Maxwell and I read "two inches below the belt" as hitting the top of your pockets on a pair of jeans. I feel the jacket...

Aero Aeromarine or SlimFit Stuart - Opinions Requested

Boyo - thanks for the feedback on the Maxwell. This looks like a button front version of the Aero Cossack with a chest pocket or a version of the slimfit Stuart without a yoke. It seems like the Cossack and the 30's HB fit approximately the same from what I've read. Seems like it's only...

Aero Aeromarine or SlimFit Stuart - Opinions Requested

Gents - facing the task of choosing a slim fit button front jacket from the Aero Leather Clothing line. I'm trying to make my decision between the new AeroMarine and the Slimfit Stuart. Hoping I can elicit some discussion from the community to make this choice easier. Here's the biggest...

    Dialing Aero from the U.S.

Yeah - called Europe all the time then was in Europe trying to call the US. Frustrating. Here's a list of international numbers from Wikipedia - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_international_call_prefixes

Markh - PM me. I'm interested in the jacket.

are there any trim aero jackets besides the 30s halfbelt?

Off topic - but this reminds me of a British guy I used to work with in Oklahoma. He had 9 days off and said he was going to drive to St. Louis. I mentioned that sounded like a good days off. He then said he wanted to head over to Boston, MA then New York, NY and maybe Miami, FL then drive...

    Wolverine Montgomery - any experiences?

You definitely made a good choice for the snow season. The neoprene sole on the Red Wing Iron Ranger is treacherous in icy or snow-packed conditions so I wouldn't recommend it for those conditions. There's this version of the Iron Ranger with a vibram lug sole but it's an entirely different...

    New Alexanders Halfbelt

OP - I really like the jacket. Please post action shots and your opinions when you receive it. I wouldn't recommend storm cuffs with a button-cuffed jacket like this 30's Hercules repo. I only like storm cuffs on cold-weather jackets. I like versatility so I usually exclude them as well...

    Porter beer?

London Porter is made by Fuller's and is one of my favorite Porters. It's rated 100 at ratebeer.com so there are a lot of people in the world who agree it's fantastic. Try this list to start your search - http://www.ratebeer.com/beerstyles/porter/5/

    White's Semi-dress Boots..

The leather lined soles are treacherous when it's wet, icy, or snowy. I personally like the look of the Vibram 269 the best but your mileage may vary. I don't personally like crepe soles but I have friends who swear by them that work on a concrete floor all day.

    White's Semi-dress Boots..

You can usually remove the marks by heating up the boots and rubbing the mark lightly with a soft cloth. I'll leave them in the car in summer until the leather gets a warm to the touch. The leather is stuffed with wax so when you heat the boot you soften the waxes and can even the finish out...

    vintage fqhh

Horween's vintage FQHH is tumbled in a large machine that looks similar to an industrial sized drier. The tumbling softens the leather like extended wear would do. The primary difference is the tumbling makes the entire leather more supple when normal wear will result in creasing and some...

    Ralph Lauren Leather jackets

Ralph Lauren's Cherry Creek store in Denver and the Aspen, CO store stock most of the RRL items. The majority of RRL merchandise is good to very good quality but the retail price is a huge let down. You can buy a higher quality Good Wear, Aero, Vanson for much less money. RRL routinely goes...

What' the Scoop on (Filson's) Wool Vests?

Indy, Iron Ranger, White's or ???

+1 on Baker Shoe, http://www.bakershoe.com/. Kyle is very good at getting you the right size. I'd recommend the Red Wing's if you're only going to wear the boots occasionally if they fit you out of the box. I have several pair of Iron Rangers (3 actually since I liked them so much) and a Red...

    Mink oil or Pecard`s

I use Fiebing's 100% neatsfoot oil. What's actually in neatsfoot oil compound anyone's guess and I'd stay away from it unless you have some specific feedback that a particular product is very good. Neatsfoot oil is thin so it will soak in deeply to leather and it can/will darken some leathers...

You don't go barefoot, do you?: the Outerwear x Footwear Thread

Agree the boots are for fashion but you could have confused Bakersfield, CA with western Oklahoma when it was all oil and agriculture but not so much since the population exploded. Korn's also from Bakersfield so I wonder whether they prefer ropers or pointed toes....

You don't go barefoot, do you?: the Outerwear x Footwear Thread

"I mean, seriously, how often do you really look at a mans shoes?" Wearing that jacket - probably not too often since it will get all the attention. I'd wear leather boots/shoes or vintage looking sneakers. The jacket is so good that you have a lot of flexibility without looking...

When is a horse not a horse....

Love the Jules references... I've only taken away that I should avoid Wested jackets. When you say pebbly do you mean sueded or pronounced fine grain like goat. I've seen some horse hide jackets that were almost sueded. Not sure if this was because the hides were split and cheap or some...

    Mink oil or Pecard`s

Totally agree with less is more. I'd vote Pecard's or a similar product due to it's great reputation. I like Obenauf's products for my leathers. Horween and several other tanneries use a coat of Neatsfoot oil to condition their leather as the last step in the tanning process. You probably...
