    For me I do not mind paying for quality. However I do like to keep the dollars shipping a jacket back and forth(for sizing) to a minimum. Also, I'm not keen on paying a VAT if I can get comparable quality without paying it. Without the tax I think Areo, AL and BK are fairly priced.

    I doubt if one jacket will fill all of your requirements. IMO a heavy HH jacket is not a comfortable everyday wearing item(goat is about as heavy as I'll wear). Heavy equates to hot in warm weather. Leather is not a good insulator by itself and needs a good insulation to make it a cool weather...

    Smoke is a very invasive compound. It is very likely you will never be able to deodorize your jacket. Removing the smoke/tar particles from the leather may be the only way. I would, as previously suggested, wash or dry clean the jacket. Good luck with it.

    Seb, cumbersome to wear is a good way to describe heavy horse. I love HH but don't like the weight. I much prefer goatskin for any leather jacket. It is light, tough and keeps its good looks.
