I had a size 46 in that jacket I bought in 1972 for the princely sum of $35 USD. It was a touch too large so I passed it to a friend. They are nice jackets. A size 42 would have stayed, I'm sure.
I'm kicking around the idea of a D-1 or B-6. The Irvins are really nice but the lack of pockets is a deal killer. I'm leaning to the B-6 because of the action back. Still pondering though.
A down Jacket weighing a fraction of the d-6 will be warmer, less expensive and all round more useful. The D-6 will give you more wind protection and won't get wet as fast. However when it does get wet drying time will be lengthy. If you want the D-6, may I suggest getting a light down vest to...
Edgc, my stuff from Hillside is several years old. Sources for materials can change. At this point, may I suggest you contact the jacket makers that interest you, ask your questions, ask for a leather sample of each color and species and then you will have all the pieces of the puzzle in place...
My Hillside Jean jacket is currently in the possession of a nephew. I looked at the vest, however there are no exposed edges. All edges are rolled, the pockets lined as is the vest. As to wear on chrome tanning, I cannot help you there as my jackets get very little wear. I find leather jackets...
I have a basic vest in HH and a Jean jacket in cowhide. I'm reasonably certain these are not veg tanned. I find their products well made, with quality materials and the prices reasonable. Their products are targeted for the motorcycle sector(not a bad thing). I recommend them. Take a look and...

I have had many pieces of Filson and still have a number. I feel the mackinaw is a bit bulky and would like to see the return of the whipcord wool jacket.
How are these jackets being marketed? Aero knockoffs? I'm wondering if the whole lot should be stored away or destroyed so the Aero name and market will not be diluted.
Ebay appears to be a very expensive method to try on and handle jackets. We see lots of jackets shown on threads only to end up in classifieds shortly there after.
