There is no free lunch. The econo jackets are cutting costs for materials or labor. Shipping is the same. I like the idea the when I buy an Aero, JL, Schott, BK or any other quality maker that I'm getting quality materials and the those in the construction process are fairly compensated. When...
I've had two Signature A2 jackets in HH and goat. The construction, materials, fit and overall quality was just fine with me. The HH however was too heavy for my liking so I gave it to a friend. I still have the goat. As to the pattern, I am, at least in this price range, not too consumed with...
The weight of leather is quite a bit heavier than other fabrics, this quality alone make the leather garments wear differently and is the source of a lot of the questions about fit, I believe. I run hot/cold on leather. I love the look and quality but tire of the sheer weight and end up getting...
I was in your shop earlier this month and was very impressed with the Pacific line. I like the lighter weight over the heavier Aero and find it to be more of an every day go to jacket. Nice shop, a lot packed in there for sure.
I have a JL in his N-200. I have and recommend the sleeves be lined with nylon, satin or other slippery fabric. This makes the jacket less restrictive in the arm movement.
With all due respect, it does not feel the same below -30. It feels colder. At -40 you can feel the 10 degree difference as much as 30F and 40F. Where temps feel much colder are places with high humidity like New York. 0F there must be unbearable.
I have had both and wore the single much more. The double is heavy. If you wear a sweater or fleece under either I find the friction between fabrics annoying. I wish Filson would at least line the sleeves with a smooth liner. Same applies to Ibex jackets. I was in Filson the other day and tried...
Based on what I've read on this forum Aero sizing varies quite a bit from model to model. Perhaps your question would be best served with a call to Aero.
My multiple pair of White's get beeswax melted into the leather with a hair dryer. Takes awhile but lays down a good base for any additional treatment.
Abuse does not produce a good look. If this was the case then dragging the coat behind the car on a dirt road would be the standard break in procedure.
I believe that regardless of how tough a $1000.00 custom jacket may be, a lot tend to wear the beaters when damage to the jacket is possible e.g. Working on a car. Serious riders excluded.
I suspect durning the hectic production days of WW2 probably more than a few jackets went out the door that were not exactly correct. I doubt any pilot returned his issue jacket because the pockets were a bit high or the fit not just right.
Why is pigskin not offered as a garment leather. I have a few leather items in pigskin and I like the bristle pattern. Welders I work with have jackets in pigskin. Am I missing something?
