I travel all around the state and what you say is true everywhere. Westerns outnumber "city" hats at least 100-1 and south of the panhandle, lots of people wear straw all year.
I get to SA every couple of months and I don't think I've ever seen anyone wearing one winter or summer. It's usually whatever I'm wearing and a lot of westerns. But I may not be in the right places.
But if you need an excuse to wear it, I'll swear they do.
Looks good, use anything you have handy. I’ve pulled folded newspaper, foam weatherstripping and lots of other stuff out of old hats. Still waiting to find a couple of $100 bills in one.

Looks good, try the brim down. If you are still interested in a vintage check the classifieds like Bowen said. The 7 1/2 listed is a sweet hat and the seller is a very long time member and bartender.
