Plastic "Pith" Helmets like the US Postal Letter Carriers Wear?

To follow-up I did order one. I wore it to a baseball game and actually got some positive comments on it -- mostly about where I got it. I really liked the fact my head did not get soggy from a Tilley hat/boonie hat/baseball cap. I rinsed it out when I got home and it seemed like new today...

I am also considering the Dadant Plastic Sun Helmet: http://www.dadant.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=34_67&products_id=576

Plastic "Pith" Helmets like the US Postal Letter Carriers Wear?

I found a review of what I asked about on Amazon. I'm pretty amazed by how uniformly positive the reviews are: http://www.amazon.com/Rothco-Military-Pith-Helmet-Khaki/dp/B000LOEWQI/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1405697630&sr=8-2&keywords=plastic+pith+helmet

That's simply not true. BOTH are still commonly used and offered for sale.

Plastic "Pith" Helmets like the US Postal Letter Carriers Wear?

Have you actually worn one? The two letter carriers I have spoke to would both say your simulation would not yield results anywhere near wearing what I asked about.

Plastic "Pith" Helmets like the US Postal Letter Carriers Wear?

Apparently you didn't see where I typed "I have no desire for an actual pith helmet."

Plastic "Pith" Helmets like the US Postal Letter Carriers Wear?

A real pith helmet (or a panama straw hat) would become disgustingly "sweated-out" after a few severe uses which are just about daily for me. That's why I wear Tilley hats (which cost as least as much as pith helmets) and boonie hats -- they can be laundered -- but they also aren't all that...

Plastic "Pith" Helmets like the US Postal Letter Carriers Wear?

I usually wear a Tilley or generic boonie hat while out exercising or working in the sun. Unfortunately they get sweated through and they are not all that comfortable after a while. I was thinking about getting one of those plastic "pith" helmets (I have no desire for an actual pith helmet)...

Would you please critique this outfit?

Definitely not a funeral director nor corpse quality to my attire that day. Not in the least. I'm not sure how either a solid or striped tie would have made a difference? I thought most "power suits" were navy and charcoal pinstripes? How would it turn anyone off? Unless I made a fashion...

Thank you! After this experience I have a real interest in black suits!

Would you please critique this outfit?

I had a very special event to go to last Sunday (part business, part social, part churchy) that lasted for several hours. Appropriate attire for men was either a business suit or a blazer/tie/slacks. It was a special event for me so I decided to wear something very nice. I'm 44, 6'2", 220...

Writing Pen Clipped to Coat Front Pocket?

What is the significance of clipping a (nice) writing pen to a suit coat or blazer/sports coat exterior chest pocket? Is it considered to be good taste? Thanks.

What Constitutes a Gentleman's Walking Stick?

I sorta like your cane. It would make an excellent weapon. I like the patina too. It say "this was my grandfather's." I would never carry a walking stick for style but I would carry one as a weapon and as something to lean on.

What Constitutes a Gentleman's Walking Stick?

I used to do that as a kid. Today I think a cop might take exception to carrying a golf club. For almost 3 years I used to carry a policeman's truncheon when I walked at night. I learned to spin it on its lanyard, the whole bit. I never knew that carrying a truncheon was illegal -- thank...

    Engineer Boots, Harness Boots...

I bought a pair of these because I couldn't justify a set of Wesco's. I am blown away by their high quality irrespective of their low price. Read some of the reviews on them...

What Constitutes a Gentleman's Walking Stick?

I'm not going to refer to it as a "weapon." One of the huge benefits of a walking stick/cane is that they are pretty much "hands off" due to the Americans with Disabilities Act. In any event my question is about what constitutes a proper gentleman's walking stick? I would hate to procure one...

What Constitutes a Gentleman's Walking Stick?

What constitutes a proper gentleman's walking stick for everyday use? Does it have a brass/bronze eagle or duck's head? Or a solid knob at one end? Is it stained wood where one can see the grain or is it black? I want a walking stick largely to carry as a weapon when I go on long walks at...

Hat for a Cleric in a Plain Black Suit?

Wearing a cassock out and about would lack taste unless the priest was a prelate and was dressed in choir for a specific event. In any event, this thread has been very informative. You people really know your hats.

Hat for a Cleric in a Plain Black Suit?

I really have no idea about the accepted colors. A black fedora on many priests would look affected to say the very least. A cassock is not proper for an event that takes place off Church grounds.
