That's a pretty useful diy foot measuring system. Essentially you will be doing the same as if you were sending your measurements to wesco but just deciding the size yourself rather than letting them tell you the size.

I have a 705 half sole on a pair of whites. And had a wesco boot with it once. I wouldn't bother with it again. It's thick and heavy with minimal traction and doesn't take too long before it is completely smooth.
Vibram minilug is a good option if you are going full sole in my opinion.
For a new wesco customer it is a good idea. Especially when ordering across the Atlantic.
Foot tracing and measurements will help ensure the best chance of a good fit. Custom is best of course if you are happy to pay the up charge.
I use the straps on my engineers to tighten up the instep to a snug fit and undoing them when I take them off.
Heel slippage is absolutely normal on a brand new pair. I'd be more worried if there were none.
