Wow - you'd think the seller would have known better. Sorry for your disappointing outcome.
I bought a Stetson with no label last summer that was measured by the seller at 59 but in reality is 56. It makes me hesitant to take a seller's word for anything.
I’m a sucker for hats with mojo. Sears Roebuck and Co., from an estate. Broken in like a loved pair of shoes or baseball glove. The previous owner’s business card still behind the sweatband. Sun-faded ribbon and a size too big for me but I like it quite a bit. I’ve got a friend in the...
On the Wilmington NC River Walk on Saturday just before sunset in a ‘50’s Royal Stetson (I call it my “flying saucer Stetson” because it was bought from a store in Roswell New Mexico, famous for the flying saucer crash of 1947).
And here I am on Sunday in a Mallory - having a delicious...
I’m visiting the North Carolina coast for a few days. It’s quite gusty out here but my “flying saucer” Royal Stetson with the brim snapped up is unaffected. Seriously this hat is about as good as my bowlers in the wind.
This Mallory is a recent acquisition. Not too fancy but it’s 7 3/8 long oval and fits nicely. I bought it to wear around as a presentable beater during my work appointments. The jury is still out on how I think it looks on me. The crown is lower than my other hats, so it feels more like a...
I am a bowler guy and just picked up this Knox. Really digging it! I’m relatively new to the vintage hat thing, but I am learning. Would y’all be kind enough to help me with the date? I would guess 1920s to 1930s maybe? Here are some pictures:
Thanks Joe!
Thank you Steve - Yes I think the box just needs a little attention and and it'll be presentable. I may check out youtube for ideas.
Thanks!
Wow thanks! I've been told in the past that I've got a big head, even a thick head, but I think this may be the first time anybody's...
It arrived! The black Knox bowler that was a late week impulse buy on eBay. I can’t find a thing wrong with it aside from some liner discoloration from age and a bit of green corrosion on the metal thing in back. Thanks to Brent I know how to get rid of that before it damages the felt. The...
I’m waiting on this one to arrive hopefully on Monday - like I need another bowler :)- but I do enjoy wearing them and something about it spoke to me. Crossing my fingers it looks good in person. When it arrives I’ll have a different bowler for every day of the week!
I stumbled onto this gorgeous Willoughby fedora in an online auction and took a chance. I didn’t know anything about that hat maker but I found some posts here in the lounge that were encouraging. No size was given but I knew from the measurements in the listing that it wouldn’t fit me...
Nice! Those are such great hats, and I think they are a perfect alternative to the felt fedoras I mostly wear. Sometimes the day, the weather, the task at hand, or even the mood just calls for a Tilley.
