That could never happen Regan. I've thoroughly enjoyed making those big damn hats for you and Brent. I didn't consider it when I first decided to make hats, but I've found the real upside is the people I get to make them for.
Funny you should ask Max. I actually took the liberty of putting your future hat in the queue for the coming year. Sort of a "just in case" kind of thing. I'm hoping that my more than persistent efforts to do more business with FEPSA will pay off with some interesting hat bodies. I'll send you...
It doesn't do you much good after the fact Max, but cotton/rayon ribbon has a completely different feel than does polyester. It's akin to the difference between the feel of a good fur felt hat and one made of wool. When it's in your hand, the difference becomes obvious. Cotton/rayon is supple...
Sure thing UnclePete. It'd be a nice change from all these really big hats I've been making. :D
If you'll email me at: phoenixhats@outlook.com we can discuss the details.
Great looking hat there Mike. It looks like your customer did some good research on his Indy gear, right down to the leather strap on the gas mask bag.
I've not seen one of Grizz's hats in person so I can't comment on their composition or quality, but I do get a kick out of watching his instructional videos and I just can't help but respect a hat maker that says, in essence, "these are the hats I make, take 'em or leave 'em". You go Grizz!
I'm not remotely close to your skill level Art, but I do enjoy the process and hopefully will continue to improve with practice. On the upside, I've found that Milan straw makes excellent tinder for the fireplace. Hah!
That would only be considered normal if shitty quality control and lack of attention to detail were considered normal. Sorry HM, but things like that make me cringe. Glad you've been able to fix it, but you should never have had to.
No medicine men that I know of Regan, although my grandfather used to tell the story about eating dog stew with the local Native Americans. According to him, the chief told him, "dig to bottom of pot, more pup". Probably just a tall tale, but I loved it. As far as the inclement weather, that's...
Here's a pic of Regan's Virginia Trekker in pure beaver. I may have done too many drugs in the 70's, but the hat seems to be shaking it's fist at the elements.
That hat brings to mind the "Virginia Trekker" hat that I made for Regan with the brim downturned front and back and an oil tanned leather hatband. I like yours just the way it is right now, kind of a country crossover hat of the style that seems to be gaining in popularity. Hell, whatever you...
Thanks for the heads up on that Art. I'll be taking my beautiful old blue/gray Stetson St. Regis Homburg to them in February to inquire about replicating that color for a special run so I hope they can work out their dying processes. I would think that they'd be falling all over themselves to...
I sure wish somebody would, but I don't think it's going to be me. I'd want to keep them in a cold storage unit just to keep the moths away from my investment. I bought a few pearl gray hat bodies from a US supplier that actually came to me with moth damage. They were beautiful otherwise and now...
