    The Resistol is a 56, so more your size. Can you also wear a 55? I have a German Stetson Excellent Trilby that size. Max, unfortunately it is difficult to recognize who you are competing with on eBay, because the names are masked and altered so much.

    Aha, I assumed you were my eBay competitor on that Panizza Zeffiro :-) I won the sellers other hat offer; the German Resistol. Sadly a little too small for me, just like the Zeffiro probably would have been.

    I found an interesting offer, but the hat is dirty with some bad looking stains. The ribbon could be replaced, but replacing the bond-edge would be a b..... Will naphtha or soap water get it clean? What do you think?

    I just aquired a "Kent" from 1960 (stamp), probably sold in Berlin, Germany. I can imagine it is related. More photos will follow.

    That looks like it was hand-painted. Did you do it yourself? Wouldn't be too difficult to reproduce. Using water-colors, they could even be washed away if you don't like the result.

    "flaked out on accepting opening bid" ? Cancelled the offer prematurely, after you already went for the start price? You could try engaging eBay services in the case; might at least effect the sellers track record.
