blow drying and shaping your hair into place (with a comb to steer it) is a way to add volume.
you could also try blow drying the top forward, then styling it back with pomade.... that way the hair is going against the way it was dried which can give it some added uplift.

Eddie, no there's no stitching. the dimensions are standard 30s-40s, but the label doesn't give a lot away in terms of dating.
(the label is on the back of the thick rather than thin end).

p.s. if it's just the stripes distorting that bothers you, there's always the option of a centre box pleat which keeps the stripes parallel:
(in this case they haven't matched the stripes through the belt, but it could be done).
a belt without pleats is a bit of a redundant feature though. i feel the point of the belt is to give that extra 'nipped in' look to the back which happens in tandem with the fullness of the pleats.
