Thanks for posting those. May I ask: did you ask for a specific crown height (I did) and just didn't get it? Or was your request more general and the crown height wasn't what you were expecting?
I got a 3X for 70 bucks in near-mint condition, but it wasn't a Western, it was a 50's-era fedora. Still, I count myself very lucky - I was really wowed by the quality. It's a fantastic hat.
Thanks 89. I requested what I would call a quintessentially American style, so it'll be interesting to see how she does with that.
I haven't seen it confirmed, but being in Lisbon I would think Luisa is getting hat bodies from FEPSA. That would certainly explain why the felt is softer and...
True, I forgot about the Smith fez. Or perhaps I forced myself to forget.
Of course, for the top of line in DW hat-wearing, one need look no further than the avatar on the left.
Well, I took the plunge - "risk it for a biscuit" as Ralfy Mitchell would say. The price is right, anyway.
I gave Luisa a pretty extensive list of what I was looking for, and I'm definitely aiming high with the styling. I'll post pics when the hat arrives.
Nick, that hat does look great on you. You're happy with the workmanship and materials overall? Good quality felt and leather? I like that you said it's a lightweight felt, because the one I'm considering is going to be primarily a summer hat for me.
Thanks for the update. Obviously word of mouth from a place like this and a 1-woman operation can lead to this sort of thing, so I'm happy to be patient. I just hope she can keep the quality level up with the increased demand.
