I pulled the liner out of the Gun Club getting ready for a gas bath cleaning in the morning (too many mosquitos out this evening) No identifying tag inside, but I did find a receipt tucked under the liner from the Stetson Outlet store.... $49.95 in Jan of 1993. Guess that explains the hole...
Some where here there ought to be a big boy that would give it some love. Till you find someone, thanks for rescuing it. Around my neck if the east texas woods about all I can find in flea markets and junk stores are trucker caps and old beater cowboy hats.
Alrighty now! Got a bit of cleaning, a bit of really light 800 grit sanding, and some steaming done. Took a serious look at the brim and did end up taking 1/4 " off the brim... Now 2-3/4" front and back and 2-1/2 on sides... steamed and ironed the side "wings" a bit flatter....its more "me"...
The whole point of having a couple walls full of hats is to avoid having multiple hats that all look the same! As a case point, Ive somehow ended up with 4 different Sovereign Temples over time.. all in different colors, all have a different feel / hand to the felt, and they all have a slightly...
Akubra is a bit more center dent and crown sides are a bit more tapered, and the Gun Club is more teardrop bash with a bit straighter sides. Their both attractive.. each in it own way. Cant wait till I get some of the darker splotches out. Till then Ill just camouflage it with either a really...
Newest project delivered by the nice mailman today. A decently nice but dirty Stetson Gun Club hat ( no tag inside so Im not really sure exactly WHAT it actually is lol) The hat band looks like the ones that Ive seen on the "Billy the Kid" line hat, so Im pretty sure its not original. Buts a...
Lets have a touch of color this morning. This poor little royal stetson was neglected, abused, rode hard and put up wet before it found a home on my wall.. Love the green ribbon and binding in contrast to the orangish- brown felt
In 1972 I bought my first fedora- A Stetson Moose River. I was big into archery back then, and Fred Bear was one of my heros...This was the closet thing I could afford to Freds Borsalino. ( back then I didnt know what a Borsalinio was, but I COULD spell Stetson) Somewhere (?) I know Ive got a...
Happy Fathers Day to all! Hug your Dad if you still have them, or think of them if not. Today Im wearing my Dads hat for coffee. I found it all dirty and smashed up when I cleared his house out. Dissassembeled and deep cleaned, and reblocked and stretched from 6 7/8 to my 7 1/4. Cut almost 2"...
A lightly modified Akubra Stockman made it up top today. Brim trimmed to a more modest 2 1/2" , leather hatband replaced with a ribbon, and hat stretched from a 59 to 59
I actually hat the hat in my watchlist, but it had inched up beyond what I wanted to pay for it. With the discount they offered I got it for what it was worth to me. I figure I find enough $25 hats... might as well pay market price for something once in a while. I got a nice hat at a decent...
A minor ebay snafu that worked out well... Had bought a cheaper hat and THIS was in the box when it arrived (got ahold of the seller and ended working a deal for BOTH hats). Its a nice clean '85 era Stetson James Dean Foundation 4x beaver in silverbelly and actually in a 7 1/4 Long Oval...
