I got my little Marlin 39a Mountie yesterday. Got back to town after being gone for a week, and ran down to the post office to pick it up, along with an Arkubra hat that had arrived from Australia. I have not used it much in the last few years but that C&R license is great so you can have...
We went to N Louisiana for the week, for me to attend a continuing education seminar and visit with friends and family. I only wore my Akubra Banjo Patterson so I would have less to pack.
I took care of one of those, in 16 ga, for a number of years, that had belonged to my father. Back in the early 70's he let me take it to Turkey for a couple of years as we could not have rifled arms over there. After my son finished college and law school it was passed on to him. Dad had...
I got lucky tonight, my wallet not so much. I won an auction for the Marlin 39a Mountie I had been wanting. Got a clean one, 1957 vintage, so it's C&R and can be shipped directly to me. By the time the check gets to New England and the gun is shipped it will probably be a bit over two weeks...
My wife just turned on and old movie, Bonnie and Clyde. Clyde is wearing what otherwise looks like a straw open road style hat, but with a very wide black hatband. I had honestly never thought of that but it looks good, good enough I may take a couple of mine, a felt and a straw and have wide...
I just purchased a couple from Australiangear, They have a sale going on some of them right now, prices roughly 30% less than David Morgan, and that's including shipping. plus models and colors not available here. One of the one's I ordered was a Cattleman in Bluegrass Green.
Renault that looks like a good find. I would not mind having one, but need another centerfire like another hole in the head. I have two 1895's both in .405, late model reproductions, one a standard grade the other the high grade, coin finish receiver with gold inlays. I only wanted one and...
This is an answer to an old thread. Naphtha can be purchased at a lot of hardware stores, paint stores, big boxes like Lowes and Home Depot. Coleman fuel is a decent grade of naphtha and can be used. I purchased a rather nice Stetson Open Road off ebay that needed cleaning, so I got a tub...
I think this can apply to most of the modern handgun rounds commonly encountered. With good expanding bullets they can do quite a bit of damage. Now your statement about reliability is diminished a bit if you consider other handgun rounds such as the 45 long Colt, 44 mag, and newer things as...
It looks a bit more dressy to me than the one with the leather band and opal. I looked at the DM site and presume that one you pictured is the moss green.
I may pick up one in the sand color for summer.
I get that comment a good bit from my wife. At least for the Lawson I have coming, she said to order it as my Christmas present as she had hand surgery and could not do any shopping. Best thing is I am getting something I really wanted and will last. I was browsing the Australiangear site and...
That's one good looking hat. I seriously thought about one, but my wife had ordered a Lawson, in loden as a Christmas present, so I decided two in the mail at once is enough.
I was browsing the Australiangear.com site and found two more hats now offered in BGG, the Cattleman and Coober Pedy, and on sale. I promptly ordered a Cattleman.
Here in Texas it's rather easy, especially if you have a concealed carry permit. I just walk in, pick out a firearm, whip out the permit, they make a copy while I fill out the federal paperwork, pay, take the gun and go.
I don't know what difference it would make to the fur/wool whether the animal was alive or dead when being sheared. It would definitely make a difference to the shearer. Imagine trying to shear a live beaver!!
