I did not know they ever made one in hemp. I would certainly like to have one for the occasional rainy day. I have one in shantung and it's stiff as a board. I do have a couple in one of the genuine Panama straws, it is more a tan/strae hw color than the white shantung, and is much softer...
Absolutly! Here in the south a thin ribbon would be considered as dressy as a wider ribbon. I have two of the silverbelly Campdraft's, one with a center dent, the other more a fedora bash you are describing, like the one Jeff Bridges is wearing in the Seabiscuit picture. You really cannot get...
Jar in the hot water sounds like a scuttle, which is a shaving mug , basically a ceramic or pottery mug within a mug, to create a jacket to hold hot water. They work quite well in keeping lather warm, I picked up a couple of nice custom made ones some members over at the Badger&Blade forum no...
I picked up a Stetson, 20x Open Road a couple of years ago from Paris Hatters. I have a couple of vintage 6x models, as well as several Campdrafts. It looks and feels like a finer grade of felt than any of the others, so I put my vote on the Stetson.
Welcome. Personally I like a wider brim, but that's just me. I have a couple of the Banjo Patterson hats, and recently got a Lawson. I generally search for the wider brim models.
You might get on the internet and search for what they call dimensional cut brims, that would be a hat with the...
I forgot to mention, Dallas Safari club has the jacket and vest with their charging elephant emblem embroidered, in their on line store.

I am not a member, but went over to one of their annual...
I can remember back in my hospital days, getting first hand info from some of the surgeons. One occasion the victim was hit by a large caliber handgun round, it went straight through the abdominal cavity, did some damage that would have been fatal if not repaired, but it was so he survived...
I got a nice Stetson 20X Open Road a couple of years ago from Paris Hatter in San Antonio. It is much softer than the currently available Open Roads n 4 or 6X, whatever that all means nowdays.
I have a 3" .357 mag. It's a lot heavier than the old model ten and shoots very well, especially with .38 special ammo. I still would like a 2" mod 10.
My father had one of those, and a 4"barrel model. I could really shoot and hit good with that stubbie. I told him if he ever wanted to get rid of it to let me buy it. He forgot and sold it to a man who worked for him. After dad, then mom died I did get the 4" model, but still wish it were...
Have both cleaned. You might put a fedora bash in your grandfather's hat. As for the open road you might try steaming and reshaping the top to something like a center dent with front pinches, or possibly a teardrop type bash. I tried that on an open road and it was simply too stiff to work by...
Agree in part. When I was in the Air Force, at the officers clubs, there was a room at the entrance with cubbies to store our hats while in the club, no problem, we had a pretty iron clad honor system, make sure you only took your own hat when leaving. In ten years active duty and seven in...
Those air guns can be a lot of fun. I have two, both Feinwerkbau's, one a M300 match rifle, the other a 124 sporter. I have had the sporter a little over 40 years now.
I'm just a little ways down the road in Jacksonville. A couple of years ago I did some relief work in a pharmacy in Longview.
I have taken a few hats into Mike's over the years, since my dad discovered him and had some cleaned and reblocked there about 20 years ago.
I'm a member of East...
This is my second 39a, Dad bought me my first back in 1952, and have wanted a Mountie for quite a while, but things kept popping up to prevent me from buying one. I located this one on Gunbroker, description looked good, and pictures even better. The seller described "minor rust stains" on...
Wear it! Wear it every day, everywhere you go. Try no to think about it, only to remember to put it on when you go out. After a while you will get to the point to where you do not think about wearing it or how others think you look with it on. In other words you will have the confidence to...
