Rocking my B3 today as the temps have dropped up here. Got a compliment on my way to the office at the coffee shop. An older gentleman asked if it was an original.
The B6 or D1 are good jackets to around 15-20 degrees IMHO. Warmer than 40 and I would think they would get pretty sweaty. I like my B3 for consistent subfreezing conditions really keeps the chill out and blocks wind like a brick wall.
I love my Eastman Perry B3 and it sees a lot of use but I have plenty of wear season up here in Alaska. Looks great with chinos and jeans.... what's not to like?
My GW cape A1 has been getting a fair bit of use with the mild winter up here. Might be my favorite jacket right now. Really dig the grain of the back.
What i'd like to believe I'd do:
Grab up my Goodwear B6 in one fell swoop and casually toss it on while dashing down the hall. Swing through the kitchen on the way out grabbing my bottle of Midleton Reserve and that cigar I keep hidden. Hit the outside stoop and just settle in for the...
I think both have excellent leathers and quality craftsman, but I find that the Japanese made goods often fit me oddly. Like they were not quite made for my body type... built with wide squat torsos rather than my long skinny torso. So they end up looking "bagish" on me.
For all its shortcomings this could be the most beautiful J100 I have ever seen. Cut is good and grain is ridiculous, the rest is just details. Wear it hard and enjoy it.
My GW B6 has been getting some wear time in the last couple of days. Warm enough with a sweater and scarf underneath. After two years of moderate wear it is still taking shape and wearing better each time. Good one for cold, but not too cold.
Here are a few photos of an original from my collection. One of my favs and it actually get some wear time on walks. Keeps me nice and warm with the cold AK temps.
Oh so humbled that you ride in the snow.
I dont seek the snow per se... just happens sometimes up here. Usually when I am in the middle of nowhere and hours from the nearest town.
Got a bit back and worn a couple of times. Runs small and Just does not fit quite right so I want to move 'em on to someone who will enjoy them more.
I wear a Medium/ size 8 (ski glove). These fit more like a Small/Size 6-7.
