A great fit and nice looking leather. Do you have any experience with Schott's steerhide in comparison? I have read that their HH is or at least used to be slightly thinner than steer but stiffer at the same time, and also that Schott uses a slightly different horsehide on 613SH (compared to...
Yeah, I think I need at least a 19" waist for the jacket to feel nice and comfortable with heavier layers. If your size 42 MC jacket had a 19" waist, it's probably around 17-18" for 38, which won't cut it. o_O It's a shame, as I have read many good things about Aero on this forum. I'll check out...
I meant Aero's cross zip (Perfecto-style) jacket. It's simply called a 'Motorcyle Jacket' (link below) on their website. I'm not familiar with Cafe Racers, but I think they have slightly different measurements.

Does anyone know what's the approximate bottom hem measurement of Aero's motorcycle jacket in size 38? I contacted their customer support, but they only sent me chest, shoulder, and back measurements. All I know is that the jacket has a considerable drop (chest/waist) compared to Schott and...
The prices are slightly cheaper in France (buying online). I found a new one for around €850 (around £715). Then again, SB jackets start already from £550.
Interesting! Didn't know they use new HH now. I always had the impression that their HH is like you described - lighter and thinner and quite shiny. I'm not a huge fan of Schott’s steerhide (it simply doesn’t feel that special), so if the new HH is even closer to steer, I might have to look...
Hey
I got myself a Schott Perfecto 613 jacket in the autumn and I am now thinking about getting another jacket in a slightly larger size for warmer layers. As the above jacket is made of steerhide, I am considering a horsehide jacket this time.
Hence, how does the Schott horsehide compare to...
A few weeks old Schott Perfecto 613 in size 40. Bought it in addition to size 38 for layering but discovered over time the smaller size is good enough for me for all purposes.
Some creases as expected from wear. No defects.
The price is 425 euros, which includes shipping within the EU. Feel...
Wanted to thank everyone for their input.
I ended up ordering a new Perfecto 613 in my own size, i.e 38, without sizing up (even though Schott generally recommends getting a larger size for 613/618), at the price of €800.
The shoulders are slightly 'restrictive' (as expected) but otherwise...
I'm leaning towards SB at this point due to their prices and location in Europe. They have a very large selection of leathers, though, so I guess ordering some samples first is the reasonable thing to do.
I could use some help with one more thing, namely choosing a leather type.
My old 80s Pakistan-made double rider has very nice fine grain (I believe it's cowhide; I also attached some photos), i.e. the pores are really small and the 'furrows' or folds are almost unnoticable from distance. Is...
The main issue with 613 is the sleeve length. If I'm not wrong, it measures around 24.5" on size 38, which isn't enough.
As for prices, Simmons is a clear winner in this regard. Their customisable 'Classic' biker jacket goes for £550 (= 620 euros), whereas 613 is in the range of 800-1000 euros...
Oh wow, wouldn't have thought the Schott jackets are so ill-fitting on certain body types! Have you had more success with other companies in finding a good-fitting Perfecto jacket? I might have to get in touch with Simmons Bilt to see what are the measurements on their jackets.
Oh well, I guess 613 (at least in size 38) is out of the question then. I was afraid the sleeve length might be an issue at my height (182/183 cm or so), as I also have a vintage cross-zip in size 38 from the 80s which seems to be a 618 copy, and the sleeves on that one are awfully short as...
