The big collar is just to pull up during a wind storm or ice storm to cover my face, head, and neck. When working or moving around outside of those circumstances I would have the collar down. I need a full view of my surroundings when working so a collar or hood doesnt work for me, but the...
Thanks for all the replies. I have been back and forth between styles and types of jackets from horsehide, to steerhide, to b3s, irvins, barnstomers, etc. Basically I need a good jacket for very cold weather. I have a military issue N3B, a very warm nylon B15 jacket, a warm schott 184SM and a...
Ok, I am almost completely sold on having Aero make me a custom jacket based on the B3 design. Amanda has been so helpful at Aero and they are willing to do whatever it is to get me the jacket that I want. She has even offered some cost saving tips as I am on a budget. I am about 90% sold on...
Well I contacted Mark and he told me that its best that I work with Amanda due to the customization. I likw the LW jacket, but I want some changes and Stuard made it clear that they do not do custom work any longer (via email), so that is out.
So far my ideas are to stick with the B3 but...
Ok, the question for all of your B3 experts is between all of the current B3 manufacturers Aero, ELC, Real McCoy, LW, USA, etc, etc.. Who makes the B3 with the thickest and longest wool? I dont mean who has the toughest skin or thickest hide, but simply the actual wool on the inside of the...
You just have to look for the made AND assembled in the usa tag. The stuff is out there, but it isnt cheap...it sure makes you feel good when you buy it though.
Just like jackets, you can get the union made...but the price difference is definitely there.
I am wondering if anyone from the UK or USA has ordered from this company? They seem to have some great stuff but are difficult to get in touch with to see if they will sell to the USA.
How is their quality? Im torn between them and WPG.
While, its blasphemy on this board, many companies make A-2 style jackets in excellent quality built for the real world as it stands today. That means pockets to put your gadgets in and a bit oversized or in longer lengths as required. I know Schott does this and Im sure most of the custom...
They dont have the length goat Im looking for, Im looking for something longer than a pea coat...more like a greatcoat 46 - 48" I have found some sites that make them out of 32 oz wool...but I dont know if thats really how thick they used to be made in the 1930's.
I have been looking at reproduction British, German, and USA great coats and overcoats from the 1930's and 1940's. I want one of these for daily wear in the cold north (think 0f - 20f) but due my size (48 - 52 depending on the cut) reproduction seems the only way. My issue is I want that...
I am looking at a few wool overcoats from WPG and I have some reservations about the company. How is there quality in general? I was told at first by them that their overcoats were 18oz, then when I suggested I wanted to find something in 32 oz, I was told that they made a mistake and their...
No, I havent, but I read a recent post of his stating that he couldnt get heavier wool due to the amount that had to be ordered. I didnt bother to ask him due to this post. I guess it wouldnt hurt to shoot off an email though.
