Hi OliverTwist. Firstly, my DD A2 I purchased via Ebay, but I was lucky (at least I think so) as it fitted pretty much me as I would have wanted (not perfect but nearly!). Mine is made from Steer hide. I have always found steer to be much more grainy and a little more forgiving than horse, not...
I have one of Dave's combat clone A2's in the same contract you have on order (in russet) and i have to say i love it. Would reccommend getting a size up from your usual size, however, best to let Dave advice you on the fit. This particular contract is quite roomy in the arms/arm holes and body...
Thanks guys. Wearing it every day and loving it more and more, so easy to wear. Regarding the combat clone treatment, you can see some darker dye in the creases of the jacket and the grain is more pronounced from the initial hot water treatment i am guessing. Would have been interesting to see...
Thanks guys. No I wouldn't want the arms any shorter either, they are totally fine only riding up a bit when I reach for some thing as you'd expect I guess. Hopefully the jacket will "give" a bit and make the shoulders a little less restrictive in time. I do not find the jacket a burden to put...
Here is my new (to me) DD A2 in Russet cow/steer hide with the "combat clone" finish. Received it this week after bidding for it on the Bay.
I am the third owner of this jacket. First owner purchased it March 2015 and wore it only four times and the second owner never wore it at all! I don't...
I think you need a fair amount of self confidence to wear a jacket like that. I often feel quite self conscious in my regular brown & russet hides let alone one in cream/sandy colour.
Just have to say what a great reply Monitor. Balanced and well thought out.
Personally I would suggest two jackets, one for the bike (Café racer) and one for off it. Also, I am thinking an A2 might be an option, particularly for a thinner chap? Best of luck.
I am not a fan of the Premier HWM, particularly the 70's collar. Can't beat the original but that's just my opinion. I would say keep it simple. If you think ahead to say 10 years or more your tastes are likely to become more conservative (It just happens for some reason), particularly as far as...
One of the best jackets I own is my BK A1 in seal brown capeskin. An easy jacket to over-look but it's a beauty, easy wear, lovely soft characterful leather.
Thanks Technonut, sounds like you are onto a winner there. I love the idea of an NOS zipper, a real and tangible link to the past. I wish you well with your order.
Thanks Shz, have cancelled my order with John now after agreeing to buy the Diamond Dave combat crew A2 off an ebay seller. It's a size 38" (I wear a 36" for the Highwayman I own), I hope it fits.
