    Vegecow Lewis Leathers quality

That’s about what Rip told me as well. Rutland is a chrome and veg tanned hide that is a little thicker but lacks grain. He described it as a cross between their standard horse and sheep, while recommending I go with standard sheep. Can’t wait to see yours when it arrives!!

Thanks. It’s too early to say conclusively, but the range of motion feels really good. This thing is really slim, yet feels perfect and just disappears when I slip it on. The leather is reasonably thick but buttery soft. To be honest, it feels so nice to the touch (like nice gloves or maybe a...

    Vegecow Lewis Leathers quality

I thought the same, until I started looking into Lewis and their history of using sheep hide. Lamb is thin and delicate, but sheep can be fairly thick. It’s still super soft, but definitely not fragile. For a mid-weight, I think it hits a good balance of all the things we look for.

    Vegecow Lewis Leathers quality

I placed the order about three weeks ago, and then Rip and I exchanged some emails to nail down all the measurements and details, which took about a week. I started with the 38 and changed the shoulder, sleeve length and opening - keeping the chest and body length as is.

Thanks! I was afraid I'd look like a sad, aging rock star (Keith Richards?), but I'm feeling pretty good about this purchase so far! Hahah, it just arrived 90 minutes ago.

    Vegecow Lewis Leathers quality

15 days after finalising my order, it arrived in Texas! I really just threw it on and snapped some pics before getting back to work, but overall impression is very good. The sheep hide feels like a glove. Only negatives I can find are the pocket layout (which many have said is impractical) and...

How many new jackets do you have coming (and how many potential ones)?

Fifteen days after finalising my custom order, it just arrived in Texas. Fit is perfect, the leather is amazing and I initial impression is great. More to follow, once I have time to really get to know it.

    Five Star Leather Jackets

I saw on FB that 5* are offering you a free remake if the jacket doesn't work out. While I'm still confused over the details, it sounds like they are committed to righting any mistakes.

How many new jackets do you have coming (and how many potential ones)?

I placed my LL order at the start of the month. When I asked about how long it will take, I was told that this is their busy season and quoted production time is 10-12 weeks. I’m used to waiting for custom jackets by now, so that’s not a problem. Thirteen days later, it just shipped my way...

    The Plan

My plan was to have one mid and one heavy brown jacket, but now I am adding a black jacket to the mix. Will I change belt and boots to wear it? Winter is so short and mild here, I almost feel the need to sell some sweaters, canvas and denim jackets to make sure the leathers get wear.

Do try this at home: leather jacket repair tips

Excellent advise, but I would just like to take a moment to recognize and applaud the dildo analogy. :D

Do try this at home: leather jacket repair tips

On a jacket, always use high quality dye. I just did an experiment, dying a brown leather belt black using liquid fabric dye. Mostly out of laziness because it’s available at the supermarket. It took several coats, between which you have to buff out the salt crystals that are added to the...

    Your opinon on Simmons Bilt?

Most of the jackets seem to be well made. If you are buying off the rack from a third party or used, it might be a good deal. You might want to do a search of this forum to read about some of the bad experiences many of us had with their customer service and quality control.

Footwear to go with our jackets

Thanks. They are made by Mason, who mostly make work boots. They are a Western boot, but I agree they look more look an engineer cross-over: Vibram sole and no ornamental stitching. Not too yee-haw!

Footwear to go with our jackets

Picked these up on eBay since I didn’t have any casual black boots and a black leather jacket on order- as new for $60 shipped. Made in the US, Vibram 700 sole and an EEEE width.

Ask a Question, Get An Answer About Outerwear

It’s a long shot I know, but my Google-Fu has failed me: Does anyone have a lead on a silver/nickel square double-prong center-bar belt buckle for a 2” belt?
