Well now, that is what they call a bone of contention.
Some will shout about sun damage and dropping it, yes even once. As far as dropping it, the helmet is supposed to protect you(not save you) in a fairly fast spill so if I drop it or knock it and it lands on the floor I will be more worried...
I tend to wear Power Ranger type on the Hayabusa. A Bell Star Carbon is my favourite, but on an old bike I wear this. A 1960s Kangol.
Looks the part, especially if you DO wear it on a Hayabusa and turn up at the Ace Cafe on Cafe Racer day hahahaha(thats another story)
Across Abberton...
Mr HPA, that's who knows :)
To me a plain jacket would always be preferable to a replica but I guess I am biased as I am never likely to own a genuine Picasso.
I did once visit a house where there was a Venus de Milo in the garden of a British council estate
Hmmmm....especially those in Asia ;)
They cost more new but I don't think they have the same resale properties as a nicely worn plain jacket, original maker or whatever, especially with the Hilts name tag. Maybe that is why this one came up cheap(ish).
Gary does make some nice jackets across the range but I do wonder whats the...
Fits Andrew nice, 'Brett' yes a bit longer sleeves.
Saw this also at the shop. Nice jacket but not my favourite, mainly because I think it would take ages to beat up to get that new/old patina looking more realistic.
I also don't think I would go with the name tag, there could be an 'I'm...
I can get that but would anyone take a (Angling type) spring balance into a shop to weigh a prospective purchase? Also a lot of the weight rests on your hip area or there about in the riding position. And then you fill the pockets with:- keys, phones, wallets, loose change, cigarettes, lighters...
I have also gone through, sort of collecting phases, mainly small stuff, easily storable such as old Hot Rod magazines and model cars from the 60s, but leather jackets have been a 35 year + thing. The vast majority of things I collect can be used despite their rarity, the models can be built and...
Why on earth weigh a jacket  Surely if you love it, will you love it less if it weighs lighter or heavier. Thats the big problem with forums like this. TOO MUCH INFORMATION.
I thought about this answer but surely if import regulations would include something such as this then it would not be possible to import leather goods, jackets shoes fur coats or otherwise.
Those so called Beaver coats may be a good cheap source, I have some skin someplace but already promised...
I never really classed Psycobilly as part of the Rock n Roll/ Rockabilly scene, related it more to punk which had really died out before the 80s started. Those like Matt Belgrano(spelling?) known for his tourist punk photo to most was just a poser.
Did you ever see Rochee and the Sarno's by any...
Is that the Kings Road shop, they also have or had another store in Endel Street Covent Garden. You should have gone there 25-30 years ago, they would sell so much of the genuine American clothing on here that the Yanks didn't want at the time.
Personally I was probably more into A2s and G1s...
100% mate:).
If any garment has a wool based lining I would worry about that shrinking and the whole thing having sort of scrunched look for some time. Something I often worried about long before the Internet obsession with ageing things prematurely.
On the Vintage front, in the 70s when I was a Ted vintage was only a word that described vintage cars and wine. 40s and 50s homeware and clothing was just old stuff. Into the 80s and so called vintage still didn't exist but in the early 80s here in the UK we stood out importing all these old...
Certainly not one of mine. I would say genuine simply because the painting is not what I would call a fakers style. By that I mean to get a quick sale back then it would probably be decorated with a pinup style, be 8th AAC or have something like swastikas rather than the Luftwaffe markings...
Not quite a 48 Scott it's in with my welding stuff, probably a bit squashed up. Isn't that what they call 'patina', I believe a new company, "Lost cause' will be producing them in authentic front quarter Hogwash.
I was wearing the trilby style since my dad died in 1979 and I inherited it I suppose. I fell in love with the Tribly style which dad wore since he was a young man. Earlier when Howard Hughes was shacked up in the Park Lane Hotel a newspaper report said his flunkey's searched all over the London...
As my previous post, Eastman make an A3 style. But would you really wear them in the street, or would you pay $1000 for something to wear in the garden/yard to cut up logs etc.
I am curious why you tried to age a welders jacket. Was it to turn it into street wear or something? I have a number of these at work, covered in welding dross and stuff. Just for a laugh I made an A2 style squadron patch for with my initials for the left chest to identify it was mine.
A few...
