I'd love to see the progress. Following the hand making of anything is great. And I do agree that the zoot suit just gets a bad rep. Having the moxie to pull off over the top style is not everyones bag and thats why such things look off most of the time. But having staight confidence can make...
Well, if your going to do it you have to make sure it fits the date. I did say "most". Remember the Some guys, if done right part. Will there be dancing/clubbing? Where are you eating? Do you plan on keeping your jacket on or is it an accsessory? There is a recent post on the pages right now...
The thing about "If done well" or "Some guys can pull it off" or "If done right" is that most just don't fit those catigories and don't do it well, can't pull it off and never do it right.
Jeans with a sports coat makes me wonder where you lost your slacks? Didn't look smart when it started...
In downtown Seattle this week, I was headed down the street, whistling into the evening air, as I often do. Stopped at a crosswalk when a woman, arms full of shopping bags toutched me on the shoulder and said " You whistle beautifully."
"Thank you" I said.
"I'm on the last day of my vacation...
Good form Dan, Good form. Not to many people go in for Zorro the Gay Blade(not a bad flick really) but if anyone wants a good laugh ask for it at your local video store. Well, that is if there are any video stores left. Saw it when it came out and one day thought it would be a good watch...
Great threads Yeti. I have some patterns for eight panel caps from a place called DL Designs. They supplied historical and vintage patterns but sadly went out of business this spring. Seems I've been busy with other hats and never got around to the eight panel cap. I did make some custom cloche...
I use roan leather sweatbands in brown and black. And since this hat was made I have aquired a Cummings Initialing machine which does the punch style leters, so now I can offer initials or do short names.
Your right on jlee. Both of those started as custom builds for customers. The Watcher was one of my favorites, took me a while to find this picture of the inside, but I love this hand painted liner and never really got to show it to anyone.

Hi everybody. Just wanted to say thanks for all the nice comments. It really means alot to get some respect here at the lounge. I guess if anybody wants to know more just drop me a line. Like everybody here, I love to talk hats.

Wild, I seriously turned on my computer just now to ask about the history of these cards. And here I find todays post. This is why the lounge is great. So does any one know where they started? Or is it just one of those commonalities whose origin is lost to time?
I agree with Jeff here. Proportions are everything. Just because someone else can pull off a style doesn't mean we all can. You have to dress to your shape.
That being said, remember that our opinions don't mean much. If you feel good walking around in a loose hat, more power to you.
Thanks Chippy. Been making hats for a bit, so I have a good set of blocks growing. This is a full reblock and flange job, new sweat and liner. Did keep the original hatters bow though. First time I've thought to turn a vintage inside out. This will change my whole perception when looking at hats...
Posted this in new hats earlier, but just about to step out in it so I thought I would throw it in the ring here as well. Bought this the other day. Pretty dirty and a couple moth bites. None of the the damage went all the way through, so I reblocked it inside out. Started as a 6 7/8 now it fits...
