I don't wear a western, but I think you should keep it as is. Good pick on the bash as well. Besides if you convert it , you will have to hide a lot of the felt in a crease in the top. That crown looks to be over 6". Just my thoughts -

Repair man needed! Need new sweatband on an old boater.
Check your phonebook for Western hat shops in Vegas(sure there has to be one). Cowboys like to mess up their hats. Most shops that sell western hats clean them and should be able to replace a sweat for you.
