I've been taken by old photos of Harry Truman and the way he wore his Open Roads. Earlier in this thread Art Fawcett describes the crease as a teardrop with forward pinches, but unfortunately the photo of Art's version has been removed. In all the photos I can find of Truman and his Open Road...
Hi everyone. It's been a few days so I'll do some catching up.
A couple of days ago, wearing a '50s Open Road.
Today, on a hike around the Bay shore. It was unexpectedly windy and I didn't wear a shirt with a button hole to attach the wind trolley of my Bluegrass Green CD, so I had to...
Lots of nice hats today, all.
Esther--thanks for the compliments and also for your 3-hat showing. Again, nice work!
Daniele--beautiful hat, beautiful setting, and I also enjoyed the interiors and paintings you posted in the Fedoras Afield thread.
moon-I'l never get tired of your CD pics.

Pretty much, 2 3/4" brim, 5 1/2" open crown, with a felt quality that comes close to my Stetson 100. Vintage Resistols are underrated hats IMHO.
David, the pug does look proportional to the hat. Nice choice.
Another great display today, everyone.
moon-I just love that hat. Inspires me to wear my cattleman's creased Resistol tomorrow.
Bob--like the way you have the CD creased. I may give it a try with mine.
moe--I'm liking your original. Looks like the fog stayed in up there today.
Since I...

clintfisher, the key operative word is "slowly". The mechanical advantage of that screw could have you popping stitches in the sweatband if you try to make it happen too fast. A couple of drawbacks to using a stretcher are possibly causing the brim to warp and the sweatband to telegraph through...
Esther--thank you. I've been quietly admiring your work. Your hats are fantastic.
tommy--the Borso is also my lightest and thinnest. I have another Alessandria-style Borso that may have been made several years later and although it's very light and thin, it's the not quite the same as the...
Thanks, man. The Lee is probably early-mid '50s since it came with the pre-blocked crown that Lee began doing sometime around then. I steamed out the teardrop and left it with a simple center dent. I have a more pristine Trinity that has an open crown so I'm guessing it's older.
I'll second...
