Yes, antique shops (which I go to frequently) often elicit positive response to my hats (that and for some strange reason the millennial drive thru attendants). The Antique crowd seems especially to love the hats.
On the street I OFTEN get positive comments on my hats and cannot remember ever...
YES......agree with you both........anymore my hats do NOT leave my head in any restaurant. Too much can happen.
And if a formal event, the hat stays in the room, car, or home. (I have actually been asked to wear my hat at some of these events knowing it stays on my head).

Simple Edwardian Silver Flask with collapsible cup/cap (1 ounce). Flask is quite heavy, probebly heavy silver plated pewter. Hallmarked on bottom but unreadable due to damage. This flask had a long loved life......
Mid-late Victorian/early Edwardian (hard to date these) Heavy Silver Plate etched oval flask. Cannot find any markings. LOVE the classic highly detailed "Drunkard" image of the man pouring drink from a cask into his HAT (and he is smoking)!!!!! :D
Other side is etched with Initials I cannot...
Three glass flasks, outer two are "pocket watch" flasks with a clock face on one side star on the other. Both marked "CLF" which is the C. L. Flaccus Glass Company, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (1879-c. 1927). The left is further embossed with "Good Night" and the right with "Grandfathers Clock"...

This is a modern 4X I re-bashed. I found it interesting that it actually had a sort of proper blocking tag....an many of the new ones don't (other than the sweat tear tag, with was present on this hat as well).
